Supratha
About Me
Hi, My name is Supratha and I have just finished my first year of Medicine at the University of Nottingham! I’ve always had a genuine passion for teaching and helping others in the ways that I can and I think it’d be so fulfilling to see students experience the same excitement I felt when I got my first Medicine offer.
I have aided numerous students with interview preparation, where they have gone on to secure offers and I am confident I can replicate these with other students.
Having done a gap year and receiving interview offers from all my universities both times round, I am well versed in interview techniques and a firm believer of strategic applying. I will work personally to the learning style, weaknesses and strengths of each student and readily guide them in all parts of the application process!
My teaching style
I have found teaching interactively through my iPad has worked well with past students. I do mock interviews, give feedback and examples which I communicate to the student through screen mirroring and annotating on Notability. I also break down question types (e.g. ethical or personality questions) into what techniques to apply and significant aspects to consider.
My past experience
I have previously tutored numerous students (mostly for Nottingham applications) , from first applying to the universities strategically ,given their UCAT,GCSE and A-level statistics, to preparing for the actual interview. All my previous students have gone on to get offers post interview.
I also previously tutored A-level Biology, Chemistry and Economics and worked in a 11+ tuition centre for a couple years. Therefore, I am confident in my teaching skills and personalising this to a wide range of students.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is how I tackled my gap year. I had to decide to do a gap year very spontaneously but I am very proud of firmly making that choice and staying motivated and resilient throughout the year getting 2900+ in the UKAT, an offer from my dream university and an A* in my chemistry resit. I am particularly proud of making the best of that year alongside studies; driving, getting a job and learning other skills I would have never otherwise broadened.
