Hello! My name is Hikari.
I have more than five years of overall teaching experience. After completing my master’s degree, I aspire to become a full-time teacher. During this time, I have taught a wide range of courses, including GCSE Economics, GCSE Business Studies, A/level Economics, A/level Business Studies, IELTS, phonics, Eiken, Business English, and conversation.
As soon as I graduated from school, many students approached me to tutor them in Economics and business studies. I then began tutoring A/Level and O/Level Economics and Business Studies. All of the students I’ve taught so far have excelled in their Edexcel and Cambridge exams. Last year, one of my students won the subject prize.
During my academic journey, I have had the opportunity to study Economics at both the GCSE and A-Level levels, following the curriculum offered by prestigious examination boards such as Cambridge and Edexcel. I enjoy teaching Business Studies mainly. My experience in Economics has been enriching and insightful, allowing me to develop a solid understanding of fundamental economic principles and concepts. I am excited to share my knowledge and expertise as a tutor. With a passion for teaching and a strong grasp of economic principles, I am well-equipped to guide students through the complexities of the subject. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into easily digestible parts, providing real-world examples to enhance understanding, and fostering critical thinking skills. I am dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment that encourages active participation and growth. By choosing me as their Economics tutor, students can expect engaging lessons, personalized attention, and the tools necessary to excel in their exams and develop a deep appreciation for the subject.
I worked as a full-time teacher at a reputable international school. In addition to full-time teaching, I spent nearly two years teaching volunteers, primarily Japanese students residing in Japan, as well as overseas communication and other skills. I have also earned three diplomas to provide my students with the greatest education possible. I continued to become a TEFL/TESOL certified teacher. Teaching has become my favorite place to share my knowledge and assist students in their growth.
MEng Aerospace Engineering graduate with 1st class honours from the University of Manchester. Passionate about all things planes, with a strong background in Mathematics and the Physical Sciences.
I have enjoyed my 4 years at university, gaining a solid academic foundation in the engineering sciences. Currently working towards entering a PhD programme to further my knowledge and to tame my curiosity.
Besides academia, I love playing the piano, having acquired the skill by ear. I enjoy a winter break in the Alps whenever time and my finances allow me to do so.
Able to multi-task relatively well thanks to my IB background. I had the privilege of taking Mathematics, Physics, & Chemistry at HL along with English, Economics, & French at SL. Wrote my extended essay in Physics, and very much enjoyed Theory of Knowledge.

Hello! My name’s Susie, and I’m a recent graduate from the University of Oxford, having achieved a high 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I’m currently studying an MFA in Professional Acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School! I’m 21 years old, and originally from Wimbledon!
Having only graduated last year, I am all too familiar with the stresses of university applications and A-Levels. While my ultimate aim is to help my students achieve their very best potential, I believe that a too-rigorous emphasis on exams can detract from the joy of the learning process. My teaching style fosters a dialogue between tutor and student, cultivating an environment where we can enjoy stimulating conversations, active learning, and where no question is a bad one. My students not only are taught how to excel at their examinations, but this teaching stems from a desire for them to appreciate and enjoy the subjects they are studying.
My name is Emma. I hold degrees in English studies and I’m a qualified teacher. While I specialise in nineteenth- and twentieth-century English literature, I have an interest in learning about any literary period in the Anglophone world. I am the daughter of an educator; my father was a History teacher. Thus, since an early age, I have seen the importance and intricacies of teaching. My university studies also fostered my interest in teaching, since I was fortunate to learn from academics who instilled love, zeal and devotion for their subject. I have endeavoured to follow in their footsteps by becoming a tutor and I aspire to a career in education. I am willing to teach a wide range of literary texts, including all those required by the different exam boards, as well as delivering tuition on academic and non-academic writing.
In my career as a teacher, my biggest goal has always been to inspire young people to exceed their own expectations and to enjoy the reward of learning and study. With over 14 years of experience across a wide range of educational settings, I have found that the most rewarding aspect of my work is not just seeing a student pass an exam, but watching their confidence build and a new found pleasure in reading and writing. I believe that education is a deeply “human” process, and this is why our work as educators is safe for the moment. My approach is always highly adaptive, focusing on the individual strengths and needs of each student.
For the past twelve years, my focus has been on the front lines of GCSE English (8700). Teaching at Chichester College and GBMC, I have supported learners across an incredibly wide range of abilities. Many of my students arrive feeling disillusioned or overwhelmed by the complexities of the 9-1 AQA course. My specialty lies in re-engaging these learners by breaking down intimidating exam questions into simple, manageable “bites.” By demystifying the assessment process, I help students who previously felt “stuck” realize that success is well within their reach.
Perhaps what sets my tutoring apart is my “insider” knowledge. For the last four years, I have served as an Examiner for AQA. This role has given me invaluable insight into assessment principles and the specific application of national standards. I don’t just teach the content; I teach the strategy. I show my students exactly what the examiners are looking for, sharing the tips and nuances that can elevate a response from a standard pass to something exceptional. I have seen the life-changing impact this knowledge can have, such as the two Syrian students I supported who, despite starting with very limited English, achieved a strong Grade 5. I have also seen it in the dyslexic learners I’ve mentored, helping them develop specialized reading skills so they can maximize their marks and secure their places at university.
My foundation as a teacher began with a combination of a foundation degree in Montessori Early Childhood Education and CELTA (Cambridge qualification of teaching english as a foreign language) training. This start gave me a deep understanding of how the human brain acquires language, from the curiosity of a preschooler to the linguistic requirements to pass exams. These early experiences taught me that the key to success is creating a supportive, creative environment where students feel safe to take risks and learn by ‘doing’. This philosophy followed me as I worked across Europe and the Middle East, and even into a specialised “Teach the Teacher” project for the British Council in Sri Lanka. These global experiences, teaching ESOL and summer schools, gave me a solid awareness of diverse learning needs and a global perspective that I bring into every session today.
I am also a passionate linguist and a fluent Spanish speaker. Earlier in my career, I taught Spanish and French at The Littlehampton Academy and Durrington High School in West Sussex, and I continue to share this love for languages today. For the past eight years, I have run independent evening Spanish classes in my hometown for adults, managing both beginner and intermediate groups. My approach to Spanish is fun and creative; I believe that for a language to truly ‘gel’, it must be enjoyed. It is a point of great pride for me that I still have former students from 15 years ago who see me in my home town and can still sing the Spanish songs we learned together in class.
Beyond my professional qualifications—which include my PGCE and extensive experience in Further Education—I am a mother to a successful, well-balanced young woman of 31. This personal experience of parenthood has helped my teaching immensely ; I can understand the stress parents feel during these important school years and I know how much it matters for your child’s future. Because of this, I work hard to be the kind of expert mentor I would want for my own child
When I am not teaching or examining, I enjoy the outdoors. I like sailing and have just taken up Padel. I love being out in the open air. I love to cook for my friends, surrounding myself with good food and even better company. I bring this same warmth and energy into my online tutoring, ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and praised for their achievements.
