Hi, I’m Fran! I am a postgraduate student at UCL, studying for MSc Science Technology and Society, which I hope to finish in 2024. In 2022, I graduated with a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where I specialised in Materials Science in my final year. I’m super passionate about science, and love science communication and policy-making. In my spare time, I enjoy rock-climbing, reading, board games, and music.
I have been tutoring privately for around 5 years now, and I love it! I enjoy spreading my passion for science and love discussing new and interesting topics and issues in science with my students. I think it’s really important to engage children and young people with science, to encourage the next generation of medics, mathematicians, scientists, and engineers.

I am Uday Modhwadia, a recent graduate of the prestigious University of Cambridge. My academic journey at Cambridge has equipped me with a solid foundation in Economic Geography and urbanism, which I am eager to apply in a professional capacity. One of my key strengths is my ability to dissect and comprehend intricate themes within various subfields of geography, including post-colonial studies.
My time at Cambridge was a transformative experience that instilled in me a profound appreciation for the significance of education and knowledge dissemination. It is this appreciation that fuels my desire to work as a tutor, guiding and inspiring others to unlock their full potential and attain their academic aspirations.
I firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for personal growth and societal progress. Through my tutoring efforts, I aspire to play a role in enhancing the educational journeys of students worldwide. My goal is to empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their studies and, ultimately, in their lives.
With a deep commitment to education and a passion for sharing knowledge, I am confident that I can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those I have the privilege to mentor. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the academic success and personal development of students across the globe.

I was educated at a state comprehensive in Wrexham, North Wales where I obtained my GCSEs and A-levels; specialising in the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths). I was particularly taken by geology and the Earth sciences from an early age and later decided to pursue the Earth Sciences in university. My interest in Oxford stemmed from 2 sources; 1) from my sister who achieved a place to study biochemistry at Oxford a year before me and 2) from the Welsh high achievers’ network “Seren” which encouraged students from under-represented backgrounds in Wales to apply to Oxbridge. I studied at the University of Oxford for 4 years before achieving a masters of the Earth Sciences. My specialities surround the climate and the oceans, with particular emphasis on the biological impacts on both systems. I am keen to tutor in Biology, Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.
I have taught maths and science to individuals ranging from 5 to 18 since I was in high school. This involved 30 hours of volunteering (as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate) in the classes of 12- and 14-year-olds teaching science and maths, respectively. I also spent 10 weeks on a girl scout camp in New York teaching young children about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). In terms of academic tutoring, I worked for 9 months as an academic and admissions tutor for Doxa ltd where I helped to support students applying for Oxbridge. I also tutor for VIPTutors co and have done so for over a year. I have taught Earth sciences/Geology, admissions techniques and also provided exploratory sessions on the Earth Sciences course at Oxford and Imperial College London. I taught A-level maths to a student during covid who ended up applying to Oxford for Economics and Management. I also have a lot of experience giving talks on Oxbridge admissions having been a student ambassador for the university and my college during my time at Oxford. I was hired by a company where I gave an admissions talk to a large number of students from Asia and I have also done numerous talks for an Oxbridge charity, giving prospective students insight into Oxford life, the application process and debunking any myths associated with Oxford and Cambridge.
Current 2nd year physics student at University of York with a strong interest in learning and teaching. Very familiar with the different exam boards and content within a wide range of subjects from GCSE to A-level, particularly within Physics, Geology and Maths.
My teaching will focus on understanding fundamental principles underlying a subject and build the student’s knowledge and confidence to maximise success. I have a relaxed approach to mentoring as it’s important to build a good relationship with students for a comfortable environment for their learning. I will concentrate on practice questions tailored to the exam board as well as providing revision material which I personally used to achieve high grades in my own exams.
I have availability as a university student and will create a customised plan of teaching for every student which caters to their individual needs.
