About Me

Hi! My name is Savannah and I am a 4th year medical student at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, but I am absolutely loving my experience abroad. I am about to enter my 4th year in a 5 year medicine course, so I would say I have done my fair share of studying!

I am a very energetic, social and active person. I love to spend my free time hanging out with my friends, at the gym or playing sport! I also love a good movie or two! I grew up in a very loving family, who have always pushed me to be the best version of myself – and I couldn’t be where or who I am today without them and the help they provided me. I have two younger sisters, one which has just started her own medical studies, and the other about to enter high school. Helping them out with school work, interview preps and university advice has helped me to develop my teaching style and a passion for making others’ journey that little bit easier.

My teaching style

My goal is for my students to genuinely understand their work. I believe this is done by allowing the student to figure things out for themselves, to make mistakes and to try as many times as need be. I know from experience, that memorising work never leads to success, however, properly understanding concepts and the reason for certain methods will never be forgotten and can be applied to any question thrown their way. Patience is a must, and as many hints, explanations or examples the student needs will be given until they feel comfortable and fully understand the concept.

My past experience

Yes, I have done private tutoring in high school, as well as on my university breaks. I also help my younger sisters with school work, medical interviews and university work.

My Proudest Achievements

One of my proudest achievements was my final year of high school. I was extremely sick all year but still completed every exam with all I had, and achieved a great mark. Getting through that year was one of the most mentally and physically challenging years of my life.
Of course, getting into medical school is also up there as one of my proudest moments! I am the first to go to medical school in my family and it was a very proud and emotional moment.
