Samiha
About Me
My name is Samiha and I will go into my fourth year of Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham.
I am known by my peers to be a highly enthusiastic, young healthcare student with a positive outlook towards anything in life. I believe I am a compassionate individual who puts her all into everything and can adapt myself to any situation that comes in my way. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, keeping up an active lifestyle by taking part in sports, tutoring online, as well as learning new languages. I have a keen interest in helping pupils excel in their studies by making it easier for them to reach their goals through an adaptable teaching style to meet each student’s needs. I would love to utilise my experience and assets to work in distinct environments with a wide variety of pupils and those of different backgrounds.
My teaching style
I love teaching students from the fundamentals then adapting my teaching technique based on the students’ level of understanding. I encompass a mixture of annotations, whiteboard teaching, as well as videos and repetitive questioning. Depending on the subject, I spend one lesson on going over content, or longer based on the topics to covers, then spend another session asking questions and going over exam style questions.
My past experience
Yes, I have past experience with both teaching/ tutoring. As a home tutor, I taught students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Maths and Chemistry & created and implemented session plans for each week. I remember receiving good feedback from parents for punctuality to sessions, organisation, and simplistic teaching style. During lockdown, I taught A-level Chemistry to two pupils on an online platform, where I had to develop my interpersonal skills, organisation and computer skills.
From university, I partook in tutoring through a company called Coachbright whereby I visited schools in my local area and taught students in batches.
I have also done homeschool tutoring through a company called Varsity tutors and Knowled.gg whereby I taught pupils as young as 10 years old up until A-levels.
