About Me
Hello! My name is Eliza and I provide TSA, Oxford interview, GCSE Biology and A Level Biology tutoring. I aim to create a friendly and collaborative tutoring environment to help students achieve their goals.
In terms of TSA and Oxford interview tutoring, I’m well placed to guide students as I have been through the process myself and know all too well how daunting it can feel at first! I had to figure out applying to Oxford largely on my own, which I believe makes me a great tutor for others as I am guided by my own experiences of what works and how to succeed in interview.
Tutoring for A Level and GCSE Biology is something I’m very passionate about, as despite my studies going in the direction of Psychology I still have a great love of Biology, and want to help others love it as much as I do!
If you pick me as your tutor I very much look forward to working with you!
My teaching style
My teaching style focuses closely on the needs of the student. Tutoring sessions need to be collaborative to be successful so I am guided by what my student feels is most important to cover. I think setting work between sessions is vital to consolidate knowledge, and going over it in the next session allows us to identify remaining weak spots. With subject tutoring, it is key that students are able to explain concepts back to me as if they were now teaching – this shows true understanding of a topic. In Oxford interview tutoring, I aim to ensure students are comfortable speaking about their personal statement, and will go through lots of example questions so students are well equipped with the analytical skills to succeed in the interview. In TSA tutoring, the thing I stress the most is practice, and in sessions will use worked examples to guide students in how to best answer the questions and be efficient under the time constraints.
My past experience
I have tutoring experience for A level Biology and TSA and interview coaching experience as a volunteer tutor with Zero Gravity. I also have experience working with younger students as I volunteered as a classroom assistant for maths in my school.
