Music Tutors : 1-1 Music Preparation

Hello! My name is Fran, and I am in my second year reading Music at Oxford University. I achieved a First in my first-year exams and was subsequently awarded a full scholarship for academic excellence. Prior to Oxford, I finished my International Baccalaureate with a score of 43. At the more advanced level I have a strong basis in humanities and essay writing, taking History, English Literature, and Music at IB Higher Level and essays from all contributing to my admission to Oxford. My particular interests in History include authoritarianism and cultural history, but I believe that the right essay structure can apply to any aspect of the subject at GCSE or Sixth Form level and is often the key to ensuring success. I am an avid reader, with my favourite books ranging from fiction by Virginia Woolf and Donna Tartt to academic historical books and essays by thinkers such as Simone de Beauvoir.

My specialism being Music, I achieved Grade 8 Distinction on the oboe aged 14 and a Distinction in my ARSM Diploma aged 16. I have a strong theory knowledge and am experienced in teaching up to approximately GCSE – A Level standard theory.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a strong academic background from top institutions. I hold a PGCE in Primary Education with a specialism in Computing from University College London (UCL) and an MSc in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE). Currently, I am an ECT Year 2 Class Teacher at Aldborough Primary School, where I have successfully implemented lessons in computing, science, and cultural studies.

Before transitioning into teaching, I gained valuable analytical and problem-solving skills as an independent futures trader. My experience at UCL, combined with hands-on classroom practice, has equipped me with the tools to foster learning and growth in young minds. Hi! I am a second year medical student at UCL and I am keen to help other aspiring medics with the application process. Having recently been involved in the application process, my understanding of what medical schools are interested in is current, which is important for interview preparation. Additionally, having recently taken the BMAT and UCAT, I know all the techniques and strategies to achieve a high score which got me interviews at Cambridge, UCL, Bristol and Birmingham. I also achieved a 43 in the IB this year, taking HL Maths AA, Biology, and Chemistry and am happy to tutor in all of those subjects. Hello there! My name is Deborah Awe and I teach Maths and the Sciences for younger children all the way up to Year 8! My lessons are particularly aimed at young children to instill a love of the STEM subjects; this is crucial in order to be able to achieve a good grade at these areas in the near future! I currently tutor my youngest sister, who under my tutoring has been receiving straight A grades in this subject – a girl who once struggled to tell the time! I like to teach by understanding what my student does/n’t know – this can allow for me to home in on the areas they are struggling with, making the subject much easier for them. My lessons typically run between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on what the student needs, and what kind of topic area we are working on. I am very flexible with the lesson length so do let me know in advance! I currently study Maths, Chemistry and Biology at A level and have been predicted A A A, so best believe your child is in good hands 🙂

Hello! My name is Amelia and I am a current student at the University of Sheffield studying Biomedical Science. So far I have achieved a first class with every exam I’ve taken here and I got A*, A*, A at A level. I feel with my experience studying for, and taking exams I can give solid advice and help you smash your (or your child’s) exams too! At A level I took Biology, Modern History and Music so I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects. Hi there! I am Kesithan and I am a second year undergraduate student studying Biomedical Sciences with a passion for teaching. I am committed to helping students excel in their exams and achieve their academic goals. I achieved Grade 9 in GCSE Maths by Year 10 and I know the tips, tricks and resources that can help your child reach the same level of success.

I have been a tutor for about two years and I was working on a one to one basis with students aged 10-16 to prepare them for their SATS exams and their GCSE Maths and Science exams. For example, I have tutored Year 11 students who initially performed at a grade 4/5 level and four of them went on to achieve Grade 9 in Maths while another improved to a Grade 6. In Science, one pupil improved from a Grade 4 to Grade 9, another from Grade 2 to Grade 5 and yet another moved from Grade 5 to Grade 8.

Currently, I work as a teaching assistant at a primary school and I was responsible for providing academic support to children with low abilities and special educational needs. Through this role, I have gained experience working with children with special educational needs and learned the importance of patience.This experience has taught me to be approachable and ensures that students feel comfortable seeking help from me.
