Hello, I’m Pouria, an international medical student at the University of Sheffield. My passion for medicine is matched by my enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and helping others succeed. Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently achieved A* grades in GCSEs and A-levels, thanks to effective revision techniques that I am eager to pass on to you.
My dedication to teaching has driven me to support many students in their academic pursuits. At school, I founded a Healthcare Society, where I successfully mentored over 20 students, helping them secure offers to study medicine and dentistry in the UK. My expertise extends beyond medicine to sciences and mathematics, demonstrated by my achievements such as a Merit in the Maclaurin Olympiad (recognizing me among the top 200 mathematicians out of 200,000 in the UK) and securing 4 A* grades in my A-levels.
In my first year at medical school, I achieved a score of 91% in my exams, placing me among the top of my year group. Additionally, as the treasurer of the Radiology Society of Sheffield, I contribute to teaching initiatives and have worked on national projects like the UK Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) teaching. Additionally, I am hosting an anatomy-radiology teaching series for first year medical students.
Outside of academics, I maintain a healthy work-life balance by going to the gym and boxing, hobbies that keep me physically fit and mentally sharp.
I also enjoy programming and have worked for a company as a web developer in addition to my studies.
I am a final year medical student at Flinders University who is about to graduate soon. In addition, to studying medicine at Flinders I have also participated in extracurriculars such as university sports and medrevue, as stage manager. Medrevue which is a musical that is organized by medical students every year.
I moved to Australia 10 years ago and did not have much experience with their tertiary education system. However, my experiences with volunteering and private tutoring helped me build a network which later helped me gain useful advice when trying to seek admission into an undergraduate university course. I believe I would be of use to anyone who needs some mentoring while trying to navigate the tertiary education system in Australia.
The networks I was able to establish during the course of my undergraduate degree helped me a lot when trying to gain admission into medicine in Australia. I studied Bachelors of Biomedicine at University of Melbourne graduating with a First class Honors Average and a GPA of 6.8out of a maximum of 7. I was a subjective representative as well. Following my undergraduate degree a spent an year of honors research with the aged care group at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. As a result of my research I was able to publish articles in reputable journals.
I am currently studying medicine at Flinders where some members of the faculty have let me know that I have been scoring in the top 10 % of students. I am a anatomy/dissection tutor for junior medical students as well
Hi, my name is Ips. I’m an undergraduate Biomedical Science student from the UK.
I am creative, adaptable, and forward-thinking, with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to develop and manage relationships.
I am an ambitious, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual looking to develop my academic skills in the professional world of healthcare and science. I am also a keen learner in all fields and aspects. Further to add, I am adept at public speaking and am receptive to change, and willing to learn and take on board exciting challenges.
I like writing and have written several unpublished short books and articles. Aside from my love of traveling, I also enjoy playing sports and reading. If I’m missing, then it’s best to look for me in the kitchen whipping together a tasty meal or punching the bag at my gym for the extra pump of endorphins and dopamine.
I’m often found dawdling in the world of academic creativity. As a nerd who doesn’t always ace her exams, I’m always there for a good conversation with a strong espresso at hand 🙂

My name is Maysa Choukeir, and I bring a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education, particularly in the fields of IB (International Baccalaureate) and A-Level curricula. With a background in biology and a strong foundation in chemistry, I have dedicated my career to fostering academic excellence, nurturing critical thinking, and supporting students in their journey toward achieving their educational goals. Whether you are a student seeking personalized instruction or a parent looking for a qualified tutor to guide your child through the rigors of IB or A-Level courses, I am here to provide the expert support you need.
Educational Background and Professional Experience:
My academic journey began with a master’s degree in biology, which provided me with a solid foundation in the life sciences. I am also a Ph.D. candidate in biology, currently conducting research in the field of oncology. My research involves close collaboration with oncologists and patients, which has deepened my understanding of the practical applications of science in the medical field. This experience allows me to bring real-world examples into my teaching, making complex concepts more relatable and engaging for my students.
With over 18 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, helping them navigate the challenges of both IB and A-Level curricula. I have served as an IB Chemistry teacher for DP1 students, where I reviewed the curriculum, devised alternate teaching approaches, and implemented student-centered learning strategies. My approach is always tailored to the unique needs of my students, ensuring that they not only grasp the material but also develop a genuine interest in the subject.
Specialization in IB and A-Level Education:
My specialization in IB and A-Level education is rooted in my extensive experience with these rigorous programs. I have been involved in every aspect of the teaching process, from grading assignments and moderating classroom discussions to organizing laboratory activities and integrating technology into my lessons. My goal is to create a dynamic learning environment where students feel challenged yet supported, enabling them to reach their full potential.
For IB students, I offer in-depth instruction in both SL (Standard Level) and HL (Higher Level) Chemistry, with a focus on developing a strong understanding of the core concepts and preparing for the Internal Assessments (IAs) and the Extended Essay (EE). My experience in supervising and helping with extended essays for DP1 and DP2 students has honed my ability to guide students through the research process, ensuring that their work meets the high standards expected by the IB program.
For A-Level students, I provide comprehensive support in biology and chemistry, helping them master the content and develop the critical thinking skills necessary to excel in their exams. My approach to teaching A-Level subjects is characterized by a focus on deep understanding, analytical thinking, and exam strategy. I believe that success in A-Level exams comes not only from knowing the material but also from being able to apply it in a structured and methodical way.
Experience in Curriculum Development and Student Support:
In addition to my teaching experience, I have also been actively involved in curriculum planning and development. I have participated in after-school tutorial programs, where I collaborated with other educators to create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students. My involvement in these programs has reinforced my belief in the importance of tailored instruction, where each student receives the attention and guidance they need to succeed.
I am also passionate about promoting student development through creative and interactive activities. I have organized various laboratory activities that not only reinforce theoretical knowledge but also encourage students to explore and experiment, fostering a love for science. My commitment to maintaining a positive relationship with my students is central to my teaching philosophy. I believe that a supportive and encouraging environment is key to helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
Medical Writing and Freelance Work:
Beyond my work in the classroom, I have also gained valuable experience as a freelance writer and medical writer. I have written blogs for a medical site in the USA, specializing in Specialty Care Clinics, where I researched keywords, produced engaging content, and ensured accuracy and quality through careful proofreading. This experience has enhanced my ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way, a skill that I bring to my teaching.
My work as a freelance writer also includes collaborating with www.mengotticouture.com, where I have been involved in writing blogs and uploading items to their website. This diverse experience in both scientific and creative writing has enriched my teaching, allowing me to connect with students of various interests and backgrounds.
Commitment to Professional Development:
As a lifelong learner, I am committed to continuously improving my teaching skills and staying updated with the latest educational practices. I am currently interested in participating in projects coordinated by the Department of Projects from European Funds (DMPFE) at Ovidius University of Constanta, where I hope to contribute to innovative educational initiatives. I am also eager to pursue online courses offered by Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (PDQ) to further enhance my teaching expertise.
In conclusion, I am excited to bring my extensive experience and passion for teaching to this online platform, where I look forward to working with students who are striving for excellence in their IB and A-Level studies. Whether you need help with understanding complex concepts, preparing for exams, or completing research projects, I am here to guide you every step of the way. Hi I’m AJ, a Foundation Year 3 doctor with a love for teaching!
I am currently working part-time in the NHS as a locum doctor, anticipating starting GP training this upcoming August.
I live and work in the London area, always looking to spread scientific knowledge and advice through teaching medical & work experience students.
In 2021, myself and a colleague held an online teaching series over 8 weeks, with pre and post teaching questionnaires to try create the most effective e-teaching programme. This helped students gain access to regular, interactive teaching during a time where it was less available. The exam results and feedback were full of positive reflections and we felt very rewarded to provide support during a time of social distancing and reduced face to face learning opportunities.
