Classics Tutors : 1-1 Classics Preparation

Hey! I’m Esther, I hold a BA in Classics from Oxford! With lots of prayer, guidance, and trial and error, I managed to formulate several methods of study and accumulate lots of advice and tips that I do hope you find helpful. I strongly emphasise the value of understanding concepts rather than memorising facts and replicating them during the exam, as understanding allows one to accurately tailor-fabricate answers directly to each individual question, and thus a higher likelihood of scoring highly. I strongly believe that earnestness, honesty, and integrity within studies are cardinal values for every student and tutor: I will abet every student to to, God willing, become the best student that they can be, rather than forcing textbook-emanates fragments of information into their memories for regurgitation during exams. Ultimately, sustained success in school and university comes from performing the best that one can—exercising one’s own abilities to the fullest potential—and that is what I aim to have each and every student of mine achieve.

A passionate tutor, with lots of experience teaching at all student levels, I have a love and drive for essay subjects. An Oxford Classisist, with straight A*s at GCSE and all 6s in my IB highers, I have always been the top performer, and pass on my knowledge on exam and essay writing technique to my students.

Having recently completed the Oxford Honour Moderations in Classics, some of the most prestigious exams in the world, I have demonstrated my excellent work ethic and drive, which I use in the classroom to help students learn as efficiently as they can.

Hiya! My name is Benjamin and I am a fresh graduate who took History at Emmanuel College in Cambridge. I am a keen lover of all things history related and have a particular passion for medieval history. I love playing Touch Rugby and the Saxophone in my spare time, and enjoy reading further around my subject. I studied at St Albans School for Boys, and took a wide array of subjects for GCSE including triple science, maths, English literature and language, French, history, German and Ancient Greek. There, I scored nine 9 grades and one 6 grade (in English language). For A Level, I studied economics, history, politics and French achieving two A* and two A grades. This wide base of topics has equipped me with a diverse skill set to bring to any tutee session, allowing the most to be made of the time available to us!

I am keen to take on students at the moment, and can offer a wide range of teaching especially Oxbridge Admissions preparation as well as University Level history so please shoot me a message.

My name is Sonila and I’m a recent Classics graduate from the University of Oxford. Education has been the focal point of the majority of my life, and is something I enjoy and keep up as a graduate, ensuring I stay well-read and well informed. Throughout my time in education I have consistently attained excellent grades across both humanities and STEM subjects, specialising in French, English literature and History for my A-Level.

In the past, I have attended tutoring sessions as a student, in order to pass the 11+ and stay consistent with GCSE maths and further maths, and both occasions were extremely useful to me. Therefore, I understand the ways in which tutoring can support a student and create confidence in their abilities.

I have some experience working with younger students at summer schools, and consider myself calm and understanding, as well as warm and encouraging.

Kia Ora! My name is Jasmine Stock and I am a 22 year old teaching assistant. I am currently living in London but I am originally from New Zealand, born and raised in Wellington. Before coming to London I completed my education in New Zealand, earning a Bachelors degree in Sociology with minors in Philosophy and Gender Studies. I absolutely loved my studies in Sociology and am thrilled that through my degree I was able to discover my passion for education.
I am currently working my absolute dream job in a primary school, working with children who have SEN needs. I have worked both as a 1-1 TA in a mainstream class, and as one of three adults in a smaller class of solely children with additional needs. I have tutored privately in my spare time throughout uni and continue to do so now that I work. Outside of work, I love to knit (most recently creating a number of sheep hats for my class nativity) and I love to read; I’ll read anything but my one true love is Agatha Christie! I am a high intermediate level Spanish speaker, and aim to be fluent by 2025
