I am an energetic and friendly individual with a strong passion for supporting children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Through my experience as a teaching assistant and nursery assistant, I have developed excellent skills in behaviour observation, one-to-one support, and promoting enrichment activities to help children reach their targets. I am motivated by delivering great customer satisfaction and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for all children.
I completed an AS Level award in English Literature and A Levels in History, Psychology and Art and Design. I then achieved a 2:1 in BSc Applied Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University in 2014. In 2018, I successfully completed a PGCert from the University of Birmingham in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, and in 2021 I qualified as a teacher of Art and Design.
I am a creative-thinking and motivated individual looking for a new challenge to broaden my horizons. I have previously worked as a psychological talking therapist, and I am also a qualified secondary teacher with extensive experience in schools; which has led me to my current role as an SEN tutor for adolescents who are refusing school attendance. My role is to provide them with the emotional support and encouragement needed to return to school, as well as helping them to learn and revise all curriculum material needed to pass their exams. I relish the opportunity to build positive relationships with others, as this is what motivates me, and I love to see meaningful changes which lead to bright futures; as a result of the work that myself and others have put in. I believe that in order to overcome any challenge, the first step is to identify the barriers to change. This requires the development of trusting relationships with students, as well as their parents and key staff members at their enrolled schools. Once these barriers are identified, we are able to collaboratively come up with a tailored plan to integrate students back into school.
I am an Alternative Provision Tutor committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people who often feel overlooked, misunderstood, or unsure of their own potential. Working in alternative settings has shown me how powerful personalised teaching can be, and I make it my mission to meet every student exactly where they are—academically, emotionally, and personally. I focus on building trust, nurturing confidence, and helping learners take steady steps forward, even when progress feels out of reach.
Alongside my work in education, I am pursuing a master’s-equivalent qualification in finance. This journey not only strengthens my academic background but also fuels the analytical thinking, discipline, and problem-solving skills I bring into my teaching practice. Balancing both paths has shaped me into a more reflective, resilient, and versatile professional.
I am deeply passionate about helping students recognise their capabilities, overcome challenges, and discover new directions for their futures. Whether through creative teaching strategies, patient guidance, or consistent encouragement, I strive to empower every learner to believe in themselves and to move forward with confidence, no matter how impossible their goals may seem.

Esther holds a BA in Classics from Oxford, attained with lots of prayer, guidance, and trial and error. She is a tutor with years of experience, beginning tutoring IB subjects Theory of Knowledge and Higher Level English Literature part-time in 2021 upon starting her undergraduate degree. She has since accrued over 200 hours of tutoring experience and many more subjects, including Mandarin language for all abilities, Latin language to A-level, and Oxbridge admissions preparation.
She provides guided one-on-one essay feedback on formative classroom work, mock written and oral examination practice, and works with her students to create their own personalised revision and learning plans. Where possible, she emphasises thorough understanding over simple rote-learning and regurgitation. In terms of language teaching, having learned Latin from scratch herself at university, she is fully acquainted with the challenges of language acquisition on the full spectrum of abilities. She formats her language lessons to achieve the individual goals and needs of the student, whether that is simple conversational fluency—no reading of abstruse philosophical scholarship required—or success in standardised school language exams.
Esther’s general teaching approach is that of exercising flexibility and patience. She communicates with her students to tailor her lesson plans around their individual needs and goals, as well as to subject-specific areas of focus as stipulated by the syllabus of the examination board. She strives to create a comfortable and open atmosphere during lessons and beyond, where students are unafraid to challenge themselves and make mistakes, by empowering her students with confidence in their own abilities to learn and succeed.
As best put by her own Latin tutor at university, “in errando discimus!” (by making mistakes, we learn!”)
