Hayley
About Me
My name is Hayley, and I am a professional tutor with over three years of experience teaching GCSE, GCSE CIE, and A Level students across a wide range of subjects, including Literature, English Language, Sociology, Geography, History, Business, Media Studies, LNAT and 11+ preparation. I hold a First Class Honours degree in Law, and am currently studying the Solicitor’s Course (LPC), which allows me to bring academic rigour, strong analytical skills, and professionalism to every lesson.
My tutoring journey began with a genuine passion for education and a belief that every student can excel with the right support. Over the past few years, I’ve worked with learners of all abilities, from high performing students aiming for grades 8/9, to those who began with low confidence or inconsistent study habits. Through structured lessons, clear guidance, and consistent encouragement, I have helped 93% of my students achieve grades 7- 9 (A- A*), with all students improving by at least one grade within a single term.
Parents describe my teaching style as calm, organised, and engaging. I use a blend of discussion, visual materials, modelling, exam practice, and interactive tools such as Padlet, Kahoot, and Canvas based systems to make lessons both effective and enjoyable. I design personalised learning plans based on each student’s strengths and learning preferences, and I provide parents with regular updates so they can clearly see their child’s progress.
Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs is an important part of my work. I am trained and experienced in adapting lessons for learners who benefit from additional structure, reassurance, and emotional understanding. I always aim to create a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels safe, supported, and capable of success.
My lessons are structured yet flexible, with a strong emphasis on exam technique and meeting assessment objectives. I teach students how to approach questions strategically, plan essays effectively, analyse texts or arguments with precision, and express ideas clearly under timed conditions. Whether we are analysing a poem, evaluating sociological theory, or writing a historical essay, my focus is always on building deep understanding and exam confidence.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the combination of my academic excellence, professional teaching experience, and genuine commitment to student growth. I am deeply committed to professional development and continuously refine my teaching methods to reflect best practice in education. I actively research new teaching techniques, pedagogical studies, and exam trends to ensure that my students benefit from the most effective learning strategies available.
Ultimately, what motivates me most is seeing my students succeed. Whether that means achieving a top grade, being accepted into a chosen school, or simply discovering a newfound confidence in a subject they once struggled with, those moments of achievement are what make teaching so meaningful to me.
Above all, I care deeply about each student’s progress and wellbeing. My goal is to build not only strong academic skills, but also confidence, motivation, and self belief. With the right support, every student can succeed, and I would be delighted to help your child reach their full potential.
My teaching philosophy is simple: combine knowledge with empathy, structure with creativity, and hard work with encouragement. Together, these values consistently lead to success. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me.
My teaching style
My teaching style is structured, engaging, and highly individualised. I believe every student learns differently, and I adapt my approach to suit their needs, abilities, and goals. With over three years of tutoring experience, I have developed a method that combines academic rigour with encouragement and creativity, ensuring that lessons are both purposeful and enjoyable.
I begin by assessing each learner’s current level and identifying key areas for improvement. From this, I design tailored lesson plans that build confidence while steadily developing exam skills, essay technique, and subject understanding. My lessons blend clear explanation with discussion, modelling, and interactive tools to encourage critical thinking. I place strong emphasis on analytical skills, logical reasoning, and clarity in written expression, all essential for strong academic performance. I also provide thoughtful, actionable feedback to help students understand their progress and take ownership of their learning.
Above all, my teaching is empathetic and student centred. I am trained to support SEND and SEMH learners, and I pride myself on creating a calm, positive environment where every student feels supported, motivated, and capable of success.
My past experience
Over the years, many of my students have gone on to secure places at top sixth forms and Russell Group universities, pursuing subjects such as Law, English, Business, Psychology, and the Social Sciences. Seeing my students reach such milestones, and knowing I played a part in building their confidence and academic foundation, is one of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements as a tutor is the trust parents place in me to guide their children not only academically but emotionally. I am trained to support learners with SEND and SEMH needs, and I take this responsibility very seriously. I recognise the importance of patience, empathy, and structure when working with students who may face additional challenges. My goal is always to create a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment where every student feels valued, understood, and capable of success.
