Aryaman
About Me
Hiya! My name is Aryaman, I’m a second year Maths and Philosophy undergraduate at Oxford specializing in mathematical biology (on the maths side) and literary theory and ecological philosophy (on the philosophy side) – although I have been known to dabble in other subjects by stealing my friends’ reading lists; this will be very evident from the list of subjects I can tutor for.
And I’m here to help *you* with whatever it is you want to learn or practice for. Having gone through school myself not too long ago, I completely understand how studying in school may feel a bit dreary or unclear – it’s my aim to try and mitigate this as much as possible, by making classes as interactive and engaging as possible.
When I’m not tutoring or doing my degree, I like to write, draw, watch (and sometimes make) films, play videogames, take walks in random directions, and do biology things so that I fit in with my cool biologist friends in university.
My teaching style
I like to try to make tutoring as actively engaged as possible, through lots of worked examples and mini-tests of understanding to ensure you not only know the content, but understand it deeply as well. To this end, I also try to get students to explore the links between what they’re presently doing and what they’ve already done in the subject – this not only helps with the aforementioned conceptual understanding, but also with remembering everything you’ve learnt.
My past experience
Yes – in addition to helping my friends out in school, I have helped someone with Oxford interview practice (via Zero Gravity) for computer science and philosophy who ended up getting accepted.
