Tianrun
About Me
My name is Tianrun, and I hold a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
With regards to experience, I have been tutoring for over 5 years and I’ve had a GCSE student successfully pass their retake, I’ve had 11+ students all get into their desired school and I’ve had A level students obtain their desired grades. One special note on my GCSE student is that they had Dyscalculia and I was able to get them the pass they desired. I recently became a teaching apprentice and due to my Cambridge background, I’ve helped students with Oxbridge Admissions tests and interviews.
Another teaching related activity I’ve participated in is CHaoS (Cambridge Hands on Science) where we visit schools around the country and demonstrate science or maths experiments, and I was particularly successful when it came to demonstrating probability experiments.
My teaching style
Due to my experience with a wide range of tutees, I don’t have a fixed teaching style. However, usually I use Microsoft teams and share my screen to use notability with a stylus. When it comes to GCSE/A Level students, whenever I would teach them a new topic I’d go over it slowly and rigorously taking notes along the way and asking interactive questions to check they understand. Then in the next lesson, I’d do a quick review. Once it gets to revision period, I just go over past papers with them. When it comes to 11+ students however, I mostly just go over past papers with them so they have lots of practice, unless there is a topic they are not confident on.
My Proudest Achievements
Obtaining a degree from Cambridge is of course a very proud achievement, but I was also very proud when my GCSE student was able to pass their resit.
