21About Me
Hello! I’m Sophie, a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge with a First Class (Honours) degree in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. During my time at Cambridge I studied a broad range of topics across the Psychology, Biology, and Archeology departments. I also completed a funded research internship in a neuroscience lab in the Experimental Psychology Department at the University of Oxford, and I’m about to begin my Master’s degree at UCL.
Before university I achieved 4 A* at A-Level (in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Politics), and 11 A* at GCSE.
I am very passionate about science, and I love helping students explore these subjects both across and beyond their GCSE and A-Level curricula. I also have experience helping students through the university application process, including both personal statements and Oxbridge interviews. I know just how daunting this process can feel, so I’m really looking forward to supporting students throughout their application in order to give them the best possible chances of getting an offer from their dream university!
My teaching style
I like to teach students in a way that helps them feel relaxed and engaged, so I can get the best out of them! I think tutoring works the best when students come to me with specific topics or styles of questions that they want help with, and then we work through them together. In terms of university applications, practicing both Oxbridge style interview questions together, and just discussing the subject and the student’s specific interests in a relaxed way are both incredibly valuable!
My past experience
I have experience in helping students with Oxbridge interview practice (arranged practice by Dowing College, which put me in touch with students who had been offered an interview).
My Proudest Achievements
I am really proud of my first class Cambridge degree! I worked very hard to get an offer, and then to do well during my time at university. I am also proud of how I managed to balance the high workload with a good social life, and exercise schedule as well.
