About Me
My name is Mohamed Hefny, and if there’s one constant in my life, it’s the drive to grow—professionally, personally, and in every space I step into. I’ve always believed that a person becomes the best version of themselves when they push forward with purpose, even when life gets messy or uncertain. This belief has shaped my journey as a doctor, a learner, a husband, and someone who refuses to settle for anything less than meaningful work.
My path into medicine started like many others—with curiosity, ambition, and a deep desire to understand people at their most vulnerable moments. But what truly shaped me was not the textbooks or exams; it was the real world of emergency medicine. That environment, intense and unpredictable, taught me how to stay calm when everyone else is losing balance. It taught me how to think fast without forgetting the human being behind the symptoms. And it strengthened something in me that I didn’t even know I had: a sense of responsibility that I carry with me in every situation, not just at work.
Working in emergency settings has also shaped the way I communicate. I’ve learned that people don’t want complicated explanations—they want clarity. They want someone who can break chaos into understandable steps. Over time, this became part of who I am, not just how I work. This same clarity shows up in how I teach and how I support others. When someone needs guidance, whether academically or personally, I speak to them the same way I speak to patients and colleagues: direct, practical, and focused on what will actually help them move forward. It has helped me build trust with juniors, peers, and friends who often come to me because they know they’ll get honesty without judgment.
Despite being deeply involved in medicine, I’ve never been someone defined only by one path. I’ve always had a mind that wanders into business, creativity, and new challenges. That’s why the idea of building a specialty coffee and co-working café became more than a dream for me. I want to create a space that mixes energy, comfort, and community—somewhere people can come to work, think, and enjoy high-quality coffee. I’ve chosen the Fifth Settlement in Cairo because I see potential there, a growing environment built on ambition, just like the people who live and work in that area. For me, the café isn’t just a business; it’s a reflection of how I want to bring ideas to life outside the hospital.
Balancing medical training with new ventures hasn’t been easy, but I’ve always believed that life shouldn’t be placed in one box. I’m preparing for my MRCP journey, aiming to complete Part 2 by 2026. At the same time, I explore new opportunities like writing, online work, and community-focused projects. To me, growth isn’t linear—it’s a set of parallel tracks, each teaching you something different. And I enjoy the challenge of managing them all.
On a personal level, I’ve grown a lot in the past few years. Being married grounded me, taught me responsibility in a different way, and reminded me that stability can be just as empowering as ambition. I’ve learned that communication matters more than many people admit, and that being there for someone—truly there—is a choice we make every day. I’m far from perfect, but I try to show up with honesty and heart.
I’m also someone who feels deeply, even if I don’t always show it. I’ve dealt with connections that meant a lot to me, some that didn’t go the way I hoped, and others that taught me more than I expected. Those experiences made me more understanding, more patient, and more aware of my own boundaries. They didn’t close my heart—they just made my standards clearer. Today, I choose relationships that bring peace, not chaos.
If I had to describe myself in a single line, I’d say I’m someone who keeps moving forward no matter what. I don’t wait for the perfect moment. I don’t sit around hoping for luck. I push, I learn, I adapt, and I try again. Whether I’m working in medicine, building a business, or supporting someone who needs me, I bring that same attitude with me.
What drives me is simple: progress. Becoming better tomorrow than I am today. Being someone my future self would be proud of. And helping others grow along the way.
My teaching style
I teach in a clear, practical, and learner-centred way. I focus on simplifying complex information, emphasizing real clinical scenarios, and guiding learners through step-by-step decision-making. My approach is direct and structured, aiming to build confidence while maintaining a supportive environment. I adapt my teaching to the learner’s level, encourage questions, and ensure that every session ends with concrete takeaways that can be immediately applied in practice. My goal is always to help others think clearly, act safely, and grow steadily in confidence and competence.
My Proudest Achievements
I’m proud of completing my medical degree, training in emergency medicine, and constantly pushing myself to grow. Preparing for the MRCP and expanding my skills while planning my own specialty coffee and co-working café reflects my drive. Balancing medicine, business, and personal growth is something I genuinely value.
