Hi I’m AJ, a Foundation Year 3 doctor with a love for teaching!
I am currently working part-time in the NHS as a locum doctor, anticipating starting GP training this upcoming August.
I live and work in the London area, always looking to spread scientific knowledge and advice through teaching medical & work experience students.
In 2021, myself and a colleague held an online teaching series over 8 weeks, with pre and post teaching questionnaires to try create the most effective e-teaching programme. This helped students gain access to regular, interactive teaching during a time where it was less available. The exam results and feedback were full of positive reflections and we felt very rewarded to provide support during a time of social distancing and reduced face to face learning opportunities.
My teaching style
During my medical school years, I tutored school students to help them get them into medical school, focusing on interview, personal statement, UCAT and written exam revision techniques. I have always appreciated that every student’s approach to learning is unique and the sessions were tailored to suit their specific styles to maximise results. I found that there was no one-style-fits-all approach and so altered sessions based on students’ individual strengths and weaknesses. However interactive and regular question-based testing seemed to yield the most consistently high results.
