36About Me
I am a Chartered Accountant and former investment banker with a passion for supporting the development of young people through coaching, tuition, and mentorship. I offer tutoring in Maths, Accounting, and Economics, alongside university application support and career coaching.
I am a patient and clear communicator, with the ability to break down complex information into digestible chunks, ensuring that my audience leaves with a thorough understanding of the subject.
My A-Levels in Mathematics (A*), Economics (A) and Physics (A) provided a strong foundation for me to study Economics at University College London. Along my academic journey, I adopted a range of learning styles, from using worked examples and interactive tools to reinforce my understanding, to using mnemonics and visual aids to aid memory. As a tutor, this has made me attuned to different learning styles, and I am able to adapt my approach to whatever method brings out the best in a student.
In my professional life, I completed CFA Level 1 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant while working at EY. These experiences blended commercial application with classroom learning, enabling me to illustrate concepts using real-world scenarios, which can be a very powerful way to help tutees learn.
My teaching style
My teaching style is very flexible and tailored to the needs of the student. I start by understanding the student’s current level of understanding and what they are aiming to achieve, before creating a plan to bridge the gap as effectively as possible.
I like to use worked examples to make concepts more tangible and relatable, helping to solidify the student’s understanding of the subject matter. Sessions will tend to be interactive and built around dialogue, where I will ask probing questions to encourage critical thinking. The aim is to guide the students towards discovering the answer themselves, deepening their comprehension and building confidence. However, I am also comfortable leading with clear, structured explanations when needed.
My past experience
I have several years of experience as an independent careers coach, with services including CV clinics, cover letter support, and interview preparation. I have helped candidates secure positions across investment banking, consulting, and Big 4 audit and tax.
I also served as an accounting tutor for prospective investment bankers, supporting them in mastering the accounting and financial modelling fundamentals that are crucial finance roles.
At school, I served as a peer tutor, supporting KS3 – GCSE students with Mathematics.
My Proudest Achievements
Academically, I am proud to have achieved grade A or above in every external exam I have taken. I achieved 9A*s and 3As at GCSE, followed by A*AA at A-Level. I am also proud to have supported younger students in my school with their work, helping them turn Cs and Bs into As and higher.
In my professional exams, I scored in the top 10% of candidates globally in my CFA Level 1 cohort and also passed all 12 of my Chartered Accountancy exams at the first attempt.
