Ayma
About Me
Hello! I’m Ayma Ahmed, a medical student at Imperial College London with a strong passion for both learning and teaching. Over the past 3 years, I’ve worked as a tutor, helping over 200 students succeed in their exams while gaining a deep understanding of their subjects. I always strive to create an open line of communication with my students, ensuring progress between sessions and tailoring each lesson to meet their individual needs.
I know firsthand how transformative education can be having once raised my grade from an E to an A in A* Level Chemistry in just three months. This experience fuels my commitment to helping others achieve their academic potential. I specialize in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A Level, and I have extensive experience tutoring various GCSE subjects. Additionally, I offer UCAT tutoring and Interview Tutoring, providing personalized resources to optimize students’ practice sessions and enhance their performance.
My academic background reflects my dedication: I achieved A*s in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology at A Level, along with top-tier GCSE results, all 9s. I even completed a Latin GCSE in Year 10 without any formal instruction. In the UCAT, I scored 3000 Band 1, placing me among the top 1% of test-takers, and I have received 4 offers following interviews.
I offer flexible online lessons, available every day of the week, including weekends, to accommodate busy schedules.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to learn more about how I can help you achieve your academic goals. I’m excited to begin this educational journey with you!
My teaching style
My teaching style has evolved significantly through my 200+ hours of tutoring experience. During this time, I’ve encountered students at various stages of learning—some shy and lacking confidence, others brimming with knowledge but struggling to apply it effectively. Each student presents a unique challenge, and I’ve learned that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
For example, I’ve worked with students who initially hesitate to ask questions due to fear of making mistakes. With them, I foster a supportive, non-judgmental environment, encouraging them to express their thoughts without fear. I often start by breaking down complex concepts into smaller, manageable parts, using relatable examples to help them connect with the material. Gradually, they gain confidence and begin to actively engage in the learning process.
On the other hand, I’ve tutored more confident students who may already have a strong foundation. For these students, my role shifts to challenging them with more advanced problems, encouraging critical thinking, and refining their understanding to reach higher levels of mastery.
Some students come with substantial knowledge but lack the ability to structure their learning. In such cases, I help them organize their thoughts and approach problems systematically, using strategic planning to build upon what they already know.
Adapting to each student’s needs has been a crucial part of my teaching style. Whether a student needs reassurance or additional challenges, my goal is to cultivate an environment that is both challenging and encouraging. Regular feedback, continuous adjustments to teaching methods, and a flexible mindset allow me to effectively support students at all stages of their academic journey.
My past experience
I have substantial tutoring experience across various areas of education. I’ve provided over 300 hours of A Level tutoring in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, working with students to help them master these subjects and excel in exams. I’ve also taught a broad range of GCSE subjects to over 40 students, tailoring my approach to meet their individual learning styles and needs.
Beyond subject tutoring, I’ve guided students through personal statement preparation, helping them craft compelling and effective applications. I’ve worked at the Oxford International College summer school, where I ran UCAT seminars and led workshops focused on acing medical school admissions. My experience extends to running MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) stations, where I train students to navigate complex medical interview scenarios, as well as panel interview training to build confidence and readiness for competitive environments.
This wide range of experience has shaped my adaptable teaching style, allowing me to cater to students at different stages of their academic journey.
My Proudest Achievements
Some of my proudest achievements include my involvement in various committees and initiatives. As a committee member of ICSM Vision, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to projects aimed at widening participation in healthcare. I’m especially proud of the work I’ve done helping disadvantaged children pursue medicine, providing them with the guidance and support needed to navigate the often complex path into medical school.
Additionally, being a committee member of both United Hospitals and the Royal Society of Medicine has allowed me to engage with a wider network of professionals and students, organizing events and creating opportunities that enhance both academic and professional growth within the medical community. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, as they allow me to combine my passion for education with meaningful outreach and advocacy work.
