Hello, my name is Katherine Wood, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with you as your potential tutor. I am currently a medical student at the University of Buckingham, and I am completing my clinical placement at Milton Keynes University Hospital. I have a BSc degree in Biological Sciences and I have four years of experience in the tutoring field. I also have experience in preparation for MMI interviews. My teaching philosophy revolves around problem-based learning, memory techniques, and online quizzes. I believe in creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment where questions are encouraged and no topic is too challenging to tackle. Together, we’ll navigate through the material, break down complex concepts, and build a strong foundation to prepare for any future exam.
My teaching style
My teaching style includes problem based learning, concept mapping, spaced repetition, and online quizzes. I believe the best way to learn is by teaching others and using spaced repetition to learn a content over a long period of time. I think the most effective teaching technique will often depend on factors like the subject matter, the learning preferences of the students, and the specific educational goals. I am a flexible tutor and I am open to using a combination of these techniques to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment tailored to each student’s learning needs.
My past experience
I have four years of experience in tutoring. I served as a mentor to healthcare students at my previous university.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements include: BSc in Biological Sciences, BMA Representative, Vice President of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Society, LSU Engaged Citizen Distinction, and National Leadership and Achievement Scholarship Recipient.
