Rebecca
About Me
Rebecca is a graduate of Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, where she read Natural Sciences. After taking range of papers from Mathematics to Pharmacology in her first two years, she is specialised in Clinical Physiology and Science Communication in her final year. She has a flawless academic record, having achieved 10 grade 9s at GCSE, 5 As at AS-Level and 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths A Levels alongside an A* grade in her EPQ.
Rebecca finds it incredibly rewarding to work with enthusiatic young people that are inquisitive about science and its applications in research and the real world. She finds great joy in supporting students that are motivated and aspire to apply to top university courses that will excite and challenge them.
Rebecca works as a technology consultant with a Big4 consultancy firm and is aligned to the life science and healthcare industry. She enjoys rowing, and has held positions as the Lower Boats Captain and the Social Secretary of her college boat club.
My teaching style
When teaching Rebecca takes a methodical approach to ensure all aspects of a curriculum or interview scenario are understood and well practiced, whilst allowing time for exploration of a student’s interest. Initially she looks at a specification or requirements with students, fills in any knowledge gaps, and then aims to expose them to every type of example style or interview question they may come across. She is supportive when students meet the tricky concepts that are often present in science, and always tries to have multiple methods of explanation with tangible examples.
My past experience
Becca has extensive experience teaching the AQA Biology A-level, having supported a student over 18 months throughout the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also supported two international students through sitting the NSAA. As a self-taught syllabus, she also has a good command over the NSAA requirements and preparation methods. Becca has provided academic guidance to Oxbridge applicants from underrepresented backgrounds through various volunteering positions and is experienced in tailoring support to individual students and their needs.
My Proudest Achievements
Rebecca’s proudest achievement is achieving her offer to attend the University of Cambridge to read Natural Science. She completed multiple placements, olympiads and courses in order to further her knowledge of the subject in order to make as strong an application as possible and begin exploring her interests beyond the school curriculum before attending university.
