1About Me
Ambitious and friendly student looking to help others ACE the IMAT!
As an Irish student, I found it difficult to find help for the exam as it didn’t seem like a popular choice amongst Irish school leavers. I’d love to pass on the wisdom I’ve gained from my own preparation to do well in the exam and getting into my dream course at the University of Turin to study Medicine.
From studying the clinical sciences at third level I’ve gained an in-depth knowledge of the topics covered in the IMAT. My teaching focuses on thorough understanding rather than learning by rote. No potential topic will be left uncovered and much focus will be given to topics that come up every year.
Having sat the exam twice and learned from my own mistakes I’ll provide tried and tested strategies to tackle the paper head-on!
My teaching style
My teaching is focused on understanding rather than rote learning. I like to go through hypothetical problems with students as well as a huge focus on past paper questions to ensure they understand and can apply the material fully. I like to ask questions throughout the lesson to keep the student engaged and am always open to questions from the students themselves. I treat lessons as intellectual conversations rather than lectures.
I spend approximately half the lesson focused on explaining pre-prepared notes and spending the remaining part of the lesson actively doing exam questions with the student.
My past experience
I have past experience in teaching Leaving Certificate biology grinds as well as some music teaching for piano.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement to date has been successfully getting a place in the Medicine and Surgery program at the University of Turin. A non-academic achievement I am proud of is completing a volunteering project “Heartbeat 2.0” in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a healthcare volunteer project aiming to improve the conditions of hospitals in the countries capital.
