About Me

I am an enthusiastic and friendly tutor currently studying English and Creative Writing at the University of Exeter. At school, I achieved two grade 9s in English at GCSE, a B in English at A Level, and As in both Psychology and Sociology. These experiences, along with my ongoing degree, give me a strong academic foundation across the subjects I teach.

I offer tutoring in English, Psychology, and Sociology at both GCSE and A Level. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my approach—whether that’s breaking down challenging topics, building confidence in essay writing, or focusing on exam techniques. My aim is not only to improve subject knowledge but also to help students feel confident, motivated, and fully prepared to achieve their best in assessments. While I encourage students to engage with each subject in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable, I also recognise that not every student will naturally love English, Psychology, or Sociology. For that reason, a key part of my tutoring is teaching clear, practical exam techniques. I guide students on how to structure essays, approach different types of questions, and use assessment objectives to their advantage. By focusing on how to translate knowledge into marks, I help students perform at their best, even if the subject itself isn’t their favourite. This approach not only builds confidence but also ensures they feel prepared and capable when sitting their exams.

Beyond my studies, I enjoy reading, running, hiking, and spending time with friends. I believe these interests help me bring balance, energy, and positivity to my teaching, which makes learning both productive and enjoyable.

My teaching style

My teaching style is supportive, adaptable, and results-focused. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to individual needs—whether that means breaking down difficult concepts step by step, practising essay structures, or working through past papers together. For students who enjoy the subject, I encourage deeper discussion and independent thinking, while for those who may not feel as confident or enthusiastic, I focus on practical exam strategies that build knowledge and ensure strong performance in assessments. I create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. My goal is to help every student not only improve their understanding, but also develop the skills and exam techniques they need to perform at their very best.

My Proudest Achievements

Some of my proudest achievements include gaining an academic scholarship to secondary school and securing places at both Durham and Exeter University, where I now study English and Creative Writing. I achieved two grade 9s in English at GCSE, alongside strong A Level results (A in Psychology, A in Sociology, B in English). Beyond academics, I have been published in Young Poets, completed the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and volunteered at a primary school creative writing club, helping younger students develop confidence and imagination in their writing. I am also passionate about personal challenges, having run a half marathon and aiming to complete the London Marathon in the future. These experiences have helped me develop resilience, creativity, and the ability to encourage and support others—qualities I bring into my tutoring.
