41About Me
Hi, I’m Izzy. I have just finished my 2nd year studying English at Clare College Cambridge. I took A-levels in English Literature, Politics and Music as well as completing an EPQ. I currently hold a music scholarship at Cambridge and was awarded a prize in English for my 2nd year dissertation.
Having worked at Cambridge open days I would love to help prospective students more directly with the university application process. Whether you are looking to boost your marks in your GCSEs or just need some help perfecting your grammar, I would love to help you out! Having received 5 university offers, I am familiar with what an application needs to be competetive. However, more importantly, as a tutor I would love to help foster a love of English language and literature in my students.
Outside of studying I love singing, particularly recording and touring internationally with the Choir of Clare College.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student specific. In the first session with a student I would discuss their learning style and look for any immediate gaps in their knowledge. At the end of each session I would check in with the student to make sure the strategies I am using in lessons are beneficial for the student, to ensure progress is made.
As a tutor I will always seek to stretch a student beyond what they might study in the classroom through extra reading and podcasts, helping them to see what they are capable of achieving with a little support.
My past experience
I am experienced in tutoring English particularly GCSE and A level English Literature.
My Proudest Achievements
I would say that academically one of my proudest achievements, after receiving my academic offer to Cambridge, was being awarded a music scholarship. As for personal achievements, working for the charity Sing Inside, which provides singing workshops in UK prisons, has been extremely rewarding.
