About Me
I am a highly motivated Biomedical Science undergraduate at Aston University, with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, and a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students. Having achieved high grades in A-levels, I understand the academic challenges students face and know how to explain complex concepts in a clear, simple, and engaging way.
Alongside my studies, I work as a STEM notetaker at university, where I summarise complex scientific lectures into clear, structured, and accessible notes for students with learning needs. This role has strengthened my ability to break down difficult topics, communicate clearly, and adapt my teaching style to suit different learning abilities. I have also worked as a peer mentor, supporting first-year university students academically and personally, helping them build confidence, improve study strategies, and manage their time effectively. Additionally, I have 3 years of experience in tutoring, as I used to tutor for French writing skills in India.
I strongly believe that every student learns differently, and I tailor my lessons to suit each individual’s pace, learning style, and goals. My teaching approach is structured, interactive, and supportive, ensuring that students not only improve their grades but also gain confidence and genuine understanding. I aim to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.
With strong presentation skills, excellent organisation, and a patient teaching style, I am committed to helping students reach their full academic potential and develop a strong foundation in science and problem-solving skills.
My teaching style
My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and focused on helping students truly understand what they are learning rather than just memorising information. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I always adapt my lessons to suit each student’s pace, strengths, and areas they find challenging. Before starting, I like to understand the student’s current level, goals, and preferred learning style so that I can plan lessons that are both effective and engaging.
I aim to explain concepts in a clear and simple way, breaking them down into smaller steps and using examples, diagrams, and practice questions wherever possible. I encourage students to ask questions and take an active part in lessons, as this helps build confidence and deeper understanding. I also regularly check their progress and adjust my approach when needed to make sure they are comfortable with the topic.
Creating a positive and encouraging learning environment is very important to me. Many students struggle with confidence, especially in science and maths, so I focus on being patient, supportive, and motivating. I always give constructive feedback and highlight progress, even small improvements, to help students feel more confident in their abilities.
My past experience
Yes, I have around three years of experience providing one-to-one tuition in both French and Mathematics. During this time, I have worked with students of different ages and abilities, helping them improve their understanding, confidence, and overall academic performance. My experience has taught me how to adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s learning pace and needs, whether that involves breaking down complex concepts, providing extra practice, or revising key topics in a structured way.
My Proudest Achievements
Some of my proudest achievements include receiving an exchange year offer from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which reflects my academic commitment and consistency. I am also proud of maintaining strong academic results in science subjects and building over three years of tutoring experience in Maths and French. Additionally, working as a STEM notetaker and peer mentor at university has been very rewarding, as it has allowed me to support other students, improve their learning experience, and develop my own communication and teaching skills. These experiences have helped shape my confidence, responsibility, and passion for education.
