About Me
Hi,
I’m Kami and I’ve been working as a doctor in Durham for 2 years. Throughout medical school, I mentored peers with a-levels and with admission to medical school. I am keen to continue expanding my teaching as this is an area I am passionate in. I am available for tuition with GCSEs and A-Levels (with my main focus being biology, chemistry, maths, psychology); I can also help with mentoring with applying to medical school e.g. UCAT help and interview prep.
I take a very hands on approach in tuition; I will firstly discuss with the mentee which area they need support with and from their comprise my own learning materials in the form of posters/mind maps/study sheets. Together, we will discuss this content and simplify any difficult areas. Following this, I find that mentee’s benefit from “teaching others” based on their understanding to consolidate the learning. Finally, I put together a small end of topic assessment to consolidate the learning, and check if there’s any areas we need to cover again.
My teaching style
My teaching style is mainly in the form of written materials e.g. posters/mind maps to help gain an overview of the knowledge. I am also a firm believer in the mentee practicing “teaching others” to consolidate their own learning – normally this involves the mentee discussing the learning points with me. This is then followed by a mini exam after to consolidate learning, and to highlight any areas that might still have some difficulties.
