Elsie
About Me
Hi, my name is Elsie and I am currently studying Mathematics and Physics at the University of Bath. Presently I am studying graduate modules at the University of Helsinki in Finland, having performed very well in my exams the past couple of years.
I am currently studying cosmology and quantum field theory, with the hopes of going into research related to these areas.
I have tutored before, improving the grades of my tutees in both math and physics. I find it fun to explain concepts at any level. Being the child of an A-level teacher, I’ve been advised on how to tailor my tutoring style to your specification, and how to adjust my lessons to areas where you’re struggling.
I find tutoring to be an extremely rewarding practice, one that I strive to be very good at. I can’t think of a better job for a student like myself.
My teaching style
I like to work out how it is you learn best. Generally, the best way to get better is to go through practice questions on topics that you struggle with. Once we’ve identified key areas to focus on, my lesson plans will normally consist of a quick review, and then solving practice questions together on these areas.
My past experience
I’ve done in-person tutoring, however being in Finland limits my ability to do this. However, in preparation for online-based tutoring, I’ve bought a graphics tablet so we can solve problems together online.
My Proudest Achievements
My director of studies, Dr Gary Mathlin, said I’m the best student he’s seen in over 20 years. That was a nice feeling.
