About Me
Hi, I’m Alicia, a third year history student at the University of Oxford. I am a friendly and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the subjects that I tutor and about helping students reach their dream universities. Through completing my GCSES, A Levels and obtaining an offer to study at Oxford, I understand the difficulties that students may face throughout the studying process as well as the application process for Oxbridge. Exams and university admissions can be stressful, and I am aware of the challenges that they pose. Due to this, I am excited to offer students support with KS3/GCSEs, A Levels and Oxbridge admissions. Through my own experiences with tutoring, I was able to greatly build my confidence towards my studies, equipping me with the skills to help students reach their full potential!
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centred, adapting to the unique learning needs of each individual I tutor. I prioritise careful listening and provide ample space for students to understand and process concepts at their own pace. I provide encouragement and support if students find certain concepts difficult. Fundamentally, wish to boost student confidence through my teaching style, drawing from my own experiences of overcoming challenges through effective tutoring when I was younger.
My past experience
I have experience tutoring KS3, GCSE and A Level students and this experience has allowed me to develop my teaching and communication skills. Students I have tutored have provided me with positive feedback, stating that I have helped boost their confidence with their studies and their ability to grasp new concepts. I also have experience tutoring/mentoring students who wish to apply to Oxbridge, as well as leading Oxford admissions sessions for students in Year 11 and Year 12.
My Proudest Achievements
I am very proud of obtaining and confirming my place to study at Oxford. I come from a social and geographical background where few students enter higher education, particularly at elite universities. Achieving a place to study at university was therefore a huge achievement for me.
I am also very proud of recently achieving a scholarship from a prestigious law firm, helping propel my future career endeavours and providing me with further support at university.
