18About Me
My name is Sukayna and I am currently an undergraduate student. I have been tutoring for 3 years, in Maths and Biology, and teach English and science to younger years. I have achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE mathematics and an A in A-level Mathematics. I understand the difficulty with these subjects and in order to achieve a high grade, completely understanding that topic is extremely important. I really focus on active recall and I hope my students enjoy the lessons, as it will be tailored to how they would like to learn. Ensuring students are comfortable and happy allows them to learn the best. Outside my studies, I enjoy baking. I make a range of desserts which I sell and offer to people in the local area. Additionally, I enjoy Pilates and watching movies. They both relax the brain and lets my mind move away from studying.
My teaching style
I will discuss with my students what style they like to be taught in. Some students like a lesson full of the teacher talking, some like the lesson more engaged. I will then apply this style to my teaching, and will always include a starter and exam questions in each lesson. This will help the brain apply the knowledge we have learned from that lesson and previous lessons so our brain still does active recalling. The student can bring their questions the lesson, and I may also provide additional resources that the student can look at in their own time if they want a deeper understanding, however it’s not compulsory.
My past experience
I have experience in teaching and tutoring. I work in a tuition center and I also do online tutoring. I have learned how to teach in the Kumon style too. I have been assistant manager for 2 centres working with children, including SEN children.
My Proudest Achievements
I have achieved an in person paediatric first aid training, and I have lead my kumon centres independently many times.
