2About Me
Hi, I’m Dom! Having graduated with a First Class degree with Commendation for Excellent Honours Performance in 2022, I spent two years teaching Latin and Classical Greek to pupils between Years 7 and 13 at an independent school in Somerset. I started learning Latin while in high school, where it quickly became my favourite subject, and I picked up Classical Greek at university. Language learning is a great passion of mine, and I love seeing the ways that languages connect with each other and develop. Similarly, I delight in and have a great skill for literary criticism, so as a tutor would be well placed to support with both linguistic and literary learning. I am happy to take on students at any stage in their learning journey, whether they are seeking support ahead of exams or not, and hope that I can help foster a similar passion for the subject in my students as I have.
My teaching style
My style is very much catered to the individual needs of each student, but will always be focused on increasing confidence and enjoyment in the subject. I tailor my approach to improving weaknesses, look to help recognise patterns, and promote fluency in reading the texts. I encourage my students to study frequently rather than in big chunks, and want to stimulate independent learning.
My past experience
I have two years’ teaching experience, with prior tutoring experience, and also draw on experience gained from coaching.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements are not based on results but processes. From my time teaching, I draw more satisfaction from the enjoyment of the pupils, the working atmosphere that we had, and the learning we accomplished than results themselves. However, this is not to say that my students do not achieve great results…
