About Me
Does your child need a tutor? But struggle with certain people? Has your child got any additional needs that most don’t seem to understand? Yes? Then look no further, because I’ve got you covered. Whatever your child needs, I’m here. I’ve got counselling skills under my belt, as well as top scores from teaching myself GCSEs, so I know what I’m doing. I’ve also had VERY vast experience with SEN, living with three SEN siblings and tutoring others. Whether it be selective mutism, autism, depression, anxiety, ADHD, meltdowns, or more. I’ve dealt with it all, and I know how to help. I’m kind, calm, patient, creative AND academic. So if your child needs to learn in a kind, compassionate and understanding way, that’s what I’m here for. Learning in an individual way WITH results? Yep, that’s me. No method too relaxed, no result too impossible. I’ll unlock their potential in a way that suits THEM. Do they want to learn maths with a theme of animals? Got it. Music on? Got it. Or even learn with games? I’m all in. No matter what’s needed, I’ll find a way to ensure your child has the best time at the same time as making sure the learning sticks. And I understand that learning may be hard! I’ve taught a girl who “failed” in every school provision possible, people put her at basic level, gave up on her doing “normal” things, and with my help, she ended up studying at higher maths level, running into the room smiling and flying through it at a rate where “normal” children would be jealous. To me, every child has their strengths, and I look for them however I can. For her, we had to take all pressure off. Sit in comfy chairs, music on, bit of learning, bit of chat. Change some questions to horse themed, and then boom, we were off!! Some people have the skills, they just need a different environment to thrive, with a way their brain can process things better. And that right there is exactly how I teach, by each individual person, their interests and brain process. I teach beyond subjects, I teach PEOPLE.
My teaching style
Every person is unique and so is the way I teach! I can dabble in creativity, in a fun and relaxed way, whether it be games, chatter, or even more outside the box ways than that! But if academics is the strong suit, then I can use test questions and active recall instead! However the student learns best is the way I go! I do have corbet maths cards for maths too, both at foundation and higher level. They consist of videos and questions, which is super helpful and a success with students.
My past experience
I do! I’ve taught SEN students at GCSE level.
