About Me
Hello! I’m a third-year Medicine student at St George’s University, and I’m thrilled to be here to help guide you through UCAT prep, personal statements, and medicine interviews. I’ve always been passionate about medicine’s challenges and rewards, and I believe that strong preparation and support can make a big difference in how confident you feel walking into those critical assessments.
A few things about me: I scored 3070 in the UCAT, and I was fortunate to receive 4 out of 4 interview invitations and offers from medical schools. I serve as Vice President of the Ophthalmology Society, work in a senior role at an optician’s practice, and have many years of tutoring experience. These roles have sharpened my ability to break down complex concepts, tailor learning to each student’s needs, and communicate clearly under pressure.
Outside studies, I’m from a South Indian (Malayali) background, which gives me insight into cultural diversity and helps me connect with students from all walks of life. I enjoy tennis, rock climbing, gym training, and hiking — these hobbies not only keep me balanced but also help me relate to students pursuing extracurricular excellence alongside academics.
If you choose me, I’ll be patient, approachable, and committed. I understand how daunting interviews can be, and I’ve helped many peers succeed in gaining university places. My aim is to make you feel well-prepared, confident, and ready to present your best self. Let’s work together to achieve your goals!
My teaching style
My teaching style is interactive and tailored to each student. I encourage active participation, guiding students to bring forward their own ideas before refining and building on them together. I use mock questions, timed simulations, and real interview scenarios to replicate exam conditions, followed by detailed feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. I also bring in additional resources and practice material to stretch students beyond the basics. From my previous tutoring experience, I’ve found this balance of structure and flexibility works best: students feel supported, yet challenged. I am patient, approachable, and always adapt sessions to the individual’s needs, ensuring they leave more confident, skilled, and ready to succeed.
My past experience
I have extensive tutoring and teaching experience across a wide range of age groups, from younger students through to sixth formers preparing for university applications. I have successfully coached multiple students through the medical school application process, including UCAT preparation, personal statement support, and interview practice, with all of them receiving offers. I also tutor regularly in academic subjects, adapting my approach to suit different learning styles and ensuring sessions are engaging and effective.
From this experience, I’ve learned the importance of patience, active listening, and tailoring each session to individual needs. I use feedback from students and parents to continuously improve my methods, and I take pride in the fact that I’ve consistently received positive feedback for both my teaching style and results. These experiences have not only strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, but also given me the confidence and flexibility to support students of different abilities and backgrounds. I look forward to bringing this same energy, structure, and commitment to future tutoring roles, helping every student feel prepared, motivated, and able to achieve their goals.
My Proudest Achievements
Some of my proudest achievements include academic milestones such as placing in the top 180 in my 11+, achieving six grade 9s at GCSE, and securing A*AA at A-level. I also scored 3070 in the UCAT, which helped me receive four medical school offers, and I am now President of the Ophthalmology Society at St George’s. Beyond academics, I am proud of my commitment to sport and wellbeing, having completed 2 full-marathons and competed in athletics, which reflect my discipline and determination. Im firm in my belief that striking a good work-life balance is key to success, and found the time to travel to 13 countries in my 3 years so far at university, and hope to push that to 20 before I graduate!
