About Me
Hi there, Iām Amelia. Iām really excited at the prospect of meeting you and working with you towards your learning goals. Iām a Cambridge graduate and was lucky enough to study Classics there for three wonderful years. Iām now continuing my career in Classics by teaching full time at Whitgift School in South London. I teach Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation to A Level, and am especially interested in inspiring my KS3 classes. Outside the classroom, I produce theatrical productions and running Cryptic crossword club. I also tutor annually at the UCL Classics summer school- mainly coaching Classical Greek from Beginner to Advanced level. I am fascinated by languages of all kinds and am compelled by the art of decoding. Iām currently learning Italian, brushing up on my French and always puzzling away at a crossword or two.
My teaching style
Teaching is teamwork and collaboration. I work to build my studentsā confidence and love for the subject, as well as learning itself. I believe in listening and eliciting. By giving my students the space to answer questions and explore their understanding and perspective, immense progress can be made.
My Proudest Achievements
My three IB Latin students have just achieved 7s in their Latin Literature paper (July 2024)
