About Me
Hello, Iām Jossie, and Iām a maths student at University of Oxford, tutoring maths in my spare time. I am passionate about mathematics myself and strive to make mathematics more enjoyable and understandable to my students. I am friendly and will go at my studentās pace to ensure they get the most out of our sessions. I am dedicated to helping students reach their academic goals at any level by providing sessions that are personalised and engaging, and tackling the topics my student finds most difficult.
I achieved 11 A*s at GCSE, including full marks in GCSE mathematics. I then went on to achieve A* A* A* A at A-level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History. I did the MAT exam and Oxford interviews which led me to receive 5/5 offers from my chosen universities for mathematics. I can help students both with tutoring on mathematics and physics topics, and also with university entrance for mathematics (personal statement, entrance exams, interviews). I can also offer revision tips and plans for mathematics subjects so that my students make the most of their time outside tutoring and school, and achieve the best result possible in their exams.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centred and focused on the topics and questions that my student finds most difficult. This targeted learning makes for the best possible use of time. Understanding, rather than memorising and reciting, is the key to good marks in maths, and so my sessions will be focused on clear explanations and worked examples so that my student is able to better apply their knowledge to more challenging questions.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest academic achievements have been getting A* A* A* A at A-level, getting a place at Oxford for maths, and completing my first year at Oxford with a high 2:1.
