Law Holly 2025

My favourite experience was probably going to do the mock trial in the actual courts of the Royal Courts of Justice. We got to go into one of the actual courts and do our mock trial. And it was a murder trial, so it was really, really interesting.

I stayed at the UCL halls of residence, so it kind of gave me a feel of what university life is gonna be like. It’s definitely taught me a lot more independence. I mean, I don’t really go away from home a lot, and especially being in London as well getting to know the Tubes and everything. It just gives you a lot more independence.

We’ve been to the RCJ which is the Royal Court of Justice. We’ve also seen multiple barristers, solicitors, and we’ve even been to a law firm in London. We’ve done moot and mock trials and many more. My favourite experience is definitely the moot trial. It was so insightful in how legal reasoning can be implemented into an argument. And the trial itself, it was just so insightful.

This week has been an inside view of the legal world, especially in London, which is the centre of law in the UK. It’s been great. It’s been so focused on the inside impacts of law in today’s life rather than the view that you’ll learn in school or a law course elsewhere.

Across the week we’ve completed different mock trials and we tried mooting for the first time. I definitely developed skills in legal research, which I’ve never had any experience of before, and also just building on public speaking skills has been really fruitful and I really enjoyed it. I’d say definitely come on the course because you have such an exposure to the legal field that I never would have had before. It’s just been constantly learning new things about the law, the profession and people’s experience, into getting into the profession.

My favourite part of the law summer camp so far was visiting the Royal Courts of Justice. It was just really beautiful and like a good insight into the kind of things a lawyer does.

We went to Whitestone Chambers and we spoke to the barrister who gave us like a tour round different places as well and it was really just interesting to hear about his career in law and the kind of things he was working on at the moment like different cases.

It’s a very good experience. My favourite part was when they brought in a lawyer to speak to us. She gave us some good motivation. I think it’s worth it because since I’m from abroad, we don’t get this experience. It has been fun, interesting, and it’s nice meeting new people.

I really liked the law work experience. My favourite part was the day when we went and looked at the Royal Courts of Justice. I found that really interesting. And we went into a barrister’s chambers and I really liked that. I felt that they were really engaging. I knew I wanted to take law at university but this week it’s definitely expanded my knowledge of law so I think I definitely want to pursue it now even more than I did before.

The law work experience was very informative. You got to talk to a wide range of different types of lawyers, barristers, solicitors and people that practise in court and actually go to court and meet people that do the work behind the scenes or that work in a large corporation.

The part I enjoyed the most was the corporate lawyer. It was very interesting when she talked all about her life and how her career path went and the things she would have done differently. This course made me realise that there’s, like in every other profession, there’s very many ways to get to a certain point and not just the one rule.

I found the law work experience interesting, especially the part when we got to visit chambers and a high street firm, like a solicitor’s firm, because I think that gave me a more of a feel of how different these environments are. I think my favourite part were the lectures, one of them was on Corporate Law and the other one was on Environmental Law.  I gained some insight that are quite hard to come across in general and it opened the world of Corporate and Environmental Law a little bit more to me.

The law work experience was really fun. We went to the Royal Court of Justice, and we had a tour there. I think that was really exciting to learn about London’s history and the history of law, and we also went to the Old Bailey. We’ve also visited solicitor’s office and chambers. So I’ve got to meet new people who are interested in the same things as me, as well as building connections with people that can also help me in the future. I’m really enjoying my experience so far.

It was very interesting and there were different varieties of law. So it wasn’t just necessarily like civil, it was also like environmental, which I didn’t quite know about it at the beginning of the week, but now I know loads more about it. My favourite part was the environmental law. All the tutors were very nice and if you had any questions, they were happy to answer them.
