Hi, my name is Joanna, and I am currently a General Practice Trainee with a strong passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting aspiring medical students. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting my commitment to high-quality teaching and creating effective, student-centred learning environments.

The road to medicine can be long and challenging, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Having gone through the journey myself, I aim to pass on the knowledge, strategies, and experience I have gained over the years. My goal is not only to help you succeed in the medical school application process, but also to help you develop the resilience, confidence, and long-term skills that will support you throughout medical school and beyond.

I teach UCAT, helping students develop effective approaches to each section of the exam, improve their timing and accuracy, and build the stamina needed to perform confidently under pressure. Rather than relying solely on shortcuts, I focus on helping students understand how they think, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies that work for them.

Beyond medicine, I have a passion for languages and take great pride in being able to communicate in several languages. I also teach IELTS and have helped many students achieve scores higher than they initially aspired to.

My experience as an FHEA has further strengthened my approach to education, allowing me to apply evidence-based teaching methods and adapt sessions to different learning styles. I aim to make learning engaging, structured, and personalised, while encouraging students to become confident and independent learners.

I’m Lara, a Master’s-qualified midwife and current GEM student. I scored in the top 10% in VR and DM in the UCAT and have served as a trained MMI assessor, giving me direct insight into how MMIs work. I come from a non-traditional background and understand how powerful a “different” profile can be when it is presented with confidence. I support students across the medical school application process, UCAT, MMI interviews, personal statements, and application strategy. With experience teaching university-level students and professional education, my approach is structured and supportive. I’ll help you think clearly, communicate confidently, and perform under pressure. The UCAT is a skills-based and interviews are about structured reflection. Once you understand the logic behind both, the process becomes far easier.

Biomedical Science bachelors graduate with a First Class Honours and currently doing a degree in Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Nottingham.

I have been through the medicine application process a couple of times so i know the intricacies of the process. I received 4/4 offers so i can help to improve personal statements with what medical schools want to hear and how to prepare for medical school interviews. I have done both MMI and panel interviews and received offers after those interviews so I am happy to help with prep and provide opportunities to practice mock interviews with me with feedback provided.

I also received a score of 2960 + SJT Band 1 in the UCAT so I can assist with any questions about the UCAT and will provide tips and tricks to improve your speed and accuracy with the questions!!

I am really friendly, outgoing and always willing to help and will always strive to put my 110% in each session. I’ll try my absolute hardest to answer all questions so you always feel satisfied at the end of any session so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything.
