I am a fourth-year student of Japanese at Oxford University, and a dual native French-British individual. I possess advanced-level proficiency in Japanese & upper-intermediate skills in German. I began learning Japanese on my own before university, and have successfully coached a student who now studies Chinese at Oxford. My interests include Japanese Literature (Modern & Classical), International Relations, and Japanese History and Culture.
Elected the Undergraduate Student Representative for Japanese and Korean at Oxford for two years in a row, I am dedicated to assisting my peers in both academic and personal matters. I also specialise in providing support for Modern Language Oxbridge applications, personal statements, interview techniques, and offer 1 on 1 tutoring in French and Japanese. My goal is to help students achieve their full potential through tailored and productive guidance.
I recently graduated with a Masters in Global and Imperial History from the University of Oxford in June 2023 after having completed my Bachelors in History from Oxford in June 2022. At university, I was involved with various student societies, most recently having completed my term as Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford Review of Books. Currently on a gap year, I am looking forward to tutoring students interested in academic study at Oxford or Cambridge, with a particular focus on the Humanities. I would love to hear from students who require extra help with school or academic work. Equally, I would be happy to provide ‘liberal arts’ tutoring for students interested in the Humanities that goes beyond the limits of a school curriculum and introduces them to the vast diversity of subjects and skills that the Humanities has to offer. This knowledge can be especially useful for students while writing EPQs or other forms of coursework as well as providing a good foundation before embarking on undergraduate study.
I have been working as a professional tutor for nearly seven years. I graduated with a degree in HSPS from the University of Cambridge, and have been teaching a variety of humanities and English subjects ever since. I tutor English Language and Literature GCSE, Sociology A Level, Oxbridge admissions, as well as many other related-courses. Since 2020, I have adapted my work to a heavily online-based approach, though am available in person, particularly for summer school and teaching camps. Online, I utilise screensharing, PDF annotation, interactive whiteboards, shareable textbooks, past papers, and many other learning materials and worksheets that I have accumulated over the years, and in many cases technology that I have invested into, in order to make online tuition particularly engaging.

Hi, My name is Mona. I am fluent in French and English, I have an MA from the University of St. Andrews in International Relations and an MSc in Infectious Diseases and Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I have been a professional tutor for 6 years. During this time, I have tutored pupils ranging in age from 5 to 30 years old, and have had particular success with helping them with a wide range of exams, including university applications (eg.University of St. Andrews, Cambridge, LSE and King’s College).
My past work experience include working for Amazon as an associate partner manager and for the CERN in Geneva in medical regulation. I enjoy supporting students of all ages, adapting my lesson plan to their needs and goals. Looking at past exams really help me in identifying gaps we can work on together and plan our lesson around them.
I am a first-class graduate from the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Faculty at Cambridge University with a deep and abiding passion for languages and cultural exchange. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology at SOAS. Prior to studying at Cambridge, I achieved 3 As at A-level in Politics, English Literature, and German and achieved the Student Award for achievement and subject engagement at my secondary school. As an experienced tutor with over 250+ hours of English language and Mandarin teaching across classrooms in four different countries, I am well-placed to provide comprehensive and personalised tuition aimed at any stage in a student’s academic journey: from GCSE, to A-level, to degree-level guidance. I am in a unique position to provide both an insight into the Oxbridge application process (entrance exams, personal statements and interviews), as well as confidently put forward my skills as a tutor for GCSE and A-level subjects (focusing on English, Politics, Sociology, and Mandarin). I look forward to meeting you and embarking on your journey to academic excellence!
Hi, I’m Will. I’m a third year Japanese Studies with Chinese student at the University of Oxford. I began studying Japanese ab initio in my first year; however, I’ve since gone onto study abroad at Kobe University alongside interning in both Kyoto and Tokyo. For my prelim exams I scored 72 subsequently being awarded the TEPCO prize and a scholarship.
Language learning comes differently to every student and as such I aim to tailor sessions around an individual’s unique profile. I aim to push students to challenge themselves in their weaker areas, whether that’s productive or receptive skills, so that they can develop confidence across the abroad. I also understand how tedious learning new vocabulary and especially learning Kanji can be. As such I aim to foster a learning environment in which it instead becomes fun and rewarding.
Outside of my studies, I love to play sports. At Oxford, I have played both rugby and football at the university level. In Japan, I had the opportunity to join the university rugby club becoming one of only a handful of international students playing across the country.
