About Me
I came in to teaching in 2005, after my previous career was in financial planning. It was with deep reflection i chose teaching as a profession and have never looked back. Its been very rewarding in my personal and professional development.
I did my teaching qualification at London Metropolitan University.
I have taught both in independent and state school over the past twenty years.
However, tutoring has always been parallel while teaching in a school setting.
Over the years, I have adapted different teaching skills to suit the students needs to reach the best outcomes. Being resourceful and versatile to students is also key to empowering the student learning.
Age ranges which I have experienced have been from primary years, KS2, 11+, 13+, KS3 and KS4. With all these years I am able to teach all the three subjects, English, Mathematics and Sciences.
However, for A level I have experience in teaching A level Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
Familiar with all major exam boards – Edecel, Aqa, OCR and WJCE and International papers too.
My teaching style
Depends on students needs.
Confirming subject knowledge is strong by covering it with the student first, overcoming any gaps. Consolidation by questions applications. Build on exam skills.
For early years it’s building foundation in vocabulary in both in Mathematics and English and skills of application. Thinking skills and structure of steps to
achieving the outcome.
In English lesson it’s using imagiination in story writing.
Improving and differentiated sentences, paragraphs to have the effect desired as a writer.
In Mathematics its making sure the basic knowledge is sound and application is build on it.
For secondary school education its making sure all the topics of the subjects are covered in depth and understood by application of varity of questions are practised. Moving on to exam skills and finally trying out examination papers.
My past experience
Yes I have been teaching and tutoring for over 20 yrs in London and with lots of successful cases.
My Proudest Achievements
Helping students achieve their best and highest potential.
Keep them motivated to learn and reach the desired outcome.
The most remarkable outcome was of two A level students who had been rejected by state school to study A level Physics. I was working an independent college and took the risk and enrol them on the course. I was their Physics teacher during the duration of the course. The delight to see the outcome of both of the students passing their exams and accepted to read their respective engineering courses at their choice of university.
Their are many other cases of students succeeding to study various courses of their choice after been taught by me.
