10About Me
Hi my name is Anna and I am a junior doctor and Cardiff graduate. Whether you’re reading this profile in search for GCSE tuition or as part of a journey in applying to medicine, I’d love to help.
I have a real passion for teaching and have eight years experience tutoring GCSE students. For me, GCSE is all about having a strong understanding of the syllabus, focusing particularly on areas you feel least confident with and learning how to apply your knowledge into answers that fit the exam mark schemes. Consequently, my GCSE lessons focus particularly on past paper questions so that when it comes to exam day, you feel confident in your answers and include all key points.
I love getting involved with all aspects of medicine applications including tutoring for interviews, personal statement advice and working at the open days at Cardiff. I have also sat on the MMI interview panel at Cardiff so I know what stands out! It seems like yesterday I was applying to medical school and I know what an incredibly tough and anxious time it can be. It’s often a game of jumping through hoops so I want to share my experiences, help with applications and hopefully help you to achieve that deserved place at medical school.
*NB. due to work schedule, I am now only able to commit to 1-2h tutoring per week. Lessons will be late evenings or weekends only. Thank you for understanding!*
My teaching style
Relaxed relaxed relaxed. Students have enough on their plate balancing studies, personal life and (if applicable) medical school applications without me adding to any stress! I think the best thing I can do whether its helping with GCSE revision, interview prep or personal statements is to instil confidence, students are often so hard on themselves or doubt whether they can do it, my teaching style is entirely based on getting you to believe in yourself.
My past experience
I have eight years experience tutoring GCSE students who, through working together, have shown significant exam improvement and achieved 8s and 9s in GCSE sciences. I also have six years experience coaching medical school applications and have mentored students at each stage of the process with many students gaining places at their top choice unis. I also tutor younger years of the medicine course on syllabus content and practical exams.
