About Me
Hi, I’m Lauren! I’m a recent English BA graduate from Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, where I achieved first class results and two academic scholarships. Previously, at sixth form, I received three A*s at A Level in English Literature, Mathematics and Economics, being awarded an academic prize for my performance in English. I have previously helped students achieve results three grades higher than predicted at GCSE, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences further as a tutor for StudyMind! I am open to tutoring English Literature GCSE and A Level, Maths GCSE and Economics A-level, as well as Oxbridge admissions. I was also on the Ballet team during my time at university, and in my spare time I love dancing and all things music. I’m very excited to start working with you soon!
My teaching style
I take a supportive skills-based approach to teaching, combining empathy and confidence-building with high academic expectations. I focus on building core competencies such as close reading, advanced vocabulary, structured argument, and confident written expression, whilst also supporting students with exam technique and managing assessment-related stress. My aim is not only to improve attainment but also to equip students with transferable skills they can apply independently, enabling them to develop their own unique academic voice.
My past experience
I helped a student develop both competence and confidence in English Literature and English Language GCSE. I focused on building core skills such as close reading, advanced vocabulary, structured argument, and confident written expression, whilst also developing exam technique and managing assessment-related stress. This led to significant improvements in attainment—my client achieved results three grades higher than their teacher’s predictions as a result of my input.
Alongside academic tutoring, I have drawn on my experience in the corporate law industry to support a client through the competitive training contract application process. I provided detailed feedback on CVs and written applications, conducted a range of mock interviews, and held in-depth Q&A discussions informed by my own experience. As a result of our work together, my client was offered two prestigious internships: a vacation scheme in London at Paul, Weiss and, most notably, a Summer Law Clerk position at Baughman Kroup Bosse PLLC in New York. They were one of only three interns, and the only non-USA citizen selected.
My Proudest Achievements
I feel very proud to have raised £32,000 for breast cancer during the course of my degree. My experience as the Head of Publicity for ‘Pink Week’ (a university based national fundraising effort) involved managing and organising the a team of students to promote events across the student body. It was an amazing experience, and I feel so happy to have made a small difference. The experience has honed my results-driven mindset and my ability to adapt and innovate in order to cater to different briefs.
