Pharmacy Tutors : 1-1 Pharmacy Preparation

Hi, I am Hanin Salem and I am an Aston Medical School Student. Undertaking Biology and Chemistry A-levels made me realise my true passion for sciences, particularly with how interlinked both Biology and Chemistry truly are, such as how the different chemical bonds that we cover in chemistry are responsible for the formation, functioning and interaction of different biological molecules in the body such as proteins and enzymes. This interest therefore led me to decide to study medicine in university in order to allow me to delve deeper into beyond the A-level and GCSE curriculum.

I love sciences but I also love spreading my passion to other students through teaching, and I believe that it is important to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students also feel passionate about what they are studying and feel comfortable to ask questions and take on board challenges to achieve their academic goals and beyond.

Despite sciences being challenging subjects for some, I genuinely believe that practice does make perfect and that through a student’s self motivation and determination, they will be able to do well.

Aside from work and studies, I am also a fluent English and Arabic speaker which has really opened doors to allow me to communicate to a wider range of individuals!

I am a third year medical student at Keele. I have been tutoring since my first year so i am up to date with the interview styles and formats. Interviews significantly changed post-COVID so its beneficial having someone who did their interview in the new format. As a graduate student I have gained a lot of experience in healthcare and can help you understand the system such as the communication skills expected and desired by medical schools. I focus on having an efficient and high yield system to save you time and give you the best standing chance. Also as I was recently interviewed by multiple medical schools, so I understand how each one differs in style and can give you guidance on this. However the first couple of lessons you will have with me will give you the basics to answering any question thrown at you, by any university!

Hi, my name is safaa and I am a 3rd year medical student who attends Keele University. I love medicine and would love to help those who want to get into it as much as I can. I am a kind and friendly individual and would like to think I am approachable. I love to give to potential medical students so they have the best outcomes in the future. I have a friendly approach to my teaching so students to feel at ease and get the best out of the session but at the same time, I try to give honest feedback so that they can improve from what they have done and can learn from it. My name is Aziza and I am a current 2nd year medic at Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

I have had a lot of experience with tutoring – with being a subject ambassador at my secondary school, and tutoring friends and family at a variety of ages and skill set . From doing this, I have realised that different students have different ways of learning, therefore, adapting teaching style from student-to-student is crucial in making sure the student is content with the sessions.

I believe that practise questions are crucial in helping students understand the content, so will always end my sessions with questions- however, I am very lenient in allowing the student to lead the session to encourage them to ask questions and allow them to gain the full experience out of our sessions!

I have a real passion for helping students with their application process. I empathise with aspiring medical/dental students, as I was once in the same position. I realise that it is a daunting experience, so as well as being a tutor, I will be a form of support through this time.

I was the first in my family to go to university, therefore, I empathise with those who are in similar positions.

Applying to university can be very difficult, as there is a lot to tackle. However, I aim to help students academically, mentally and personally through this time!

Qualified Pharmacist with over 7 years teaching experience ranging from GCSE tutoring to teaching languages to adults.
Currently undertaking Medicine (MBChB) degree at Aberdeen University. Completed A-Levels at King Edward VI Five Ways Grammar School, then moving on to study MPharm at UEA School of Pharmacy (Norwich). Completed my Pharmacist training year in Hospital and GP before applying for Med School; receiving 3/4 offers.
Wide range of expereince teaching subjects from Science, Maths and Religious Studies at GCSE level and beyond. Helped run the 11+ Admission Tests for the King Edward VI Foundation in Birmingham while also teaching Numeracy and Literacy in Primary Schools.
During UG taught languages and GCSE tutoring to help students during the Covid Pandemic. I have since continued to teach at GCSE level on a private bases while also taking on teaching of Pharmacy students and Trainee Pharmacists to help in the MPharm and the GPhC exam.
