My name is Emily and I am currently studying towards an MEng in Materials Science at The Queen’s College, Oxford. Prior to University, I attended a state grammar school where I was the sole student to get into Oxford. I have got lots of experience in mentoring students for Oxbridge interviews, and have helped many with proof reading and tailoring their personal statements, too, as this can be the outstanding factor when universities choose who to offer a place to! I am highly charismatic and enthusiastic about my studies, and hope this is reflected both in my teaching and also in the results I can obtain in my students, as I have found many times students struggle to understand concepts as they either lack motivation or it hasn’t been taught to them in such a way that they can easily grasp and understand. I firmly believe everyone learn even the most challenging of topics, it just needs to be viewed from a different perspective, as everyone thinks differently!
Hi, my name is Farheen, I’m a first-year Engineering Science student at Jesus College, Oxford. For GCSEs, I studied a variety of subjects, including the three sciences, Maths, Further Maths, Geography, German and Computer Science. I then studied Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths for A-Level and achieved four A*s, after which I started my degree at Oxford in October last year.
I’ve always enjoyed teaching; I find it really rewarding and empowering, knowing the phenomenal difference that you as a teacher can make to so many different people! I have tutored for several years now, and I hope that these experiences will make me a flexible and friendly tutor. If you have any preferences in teaching style or lesson structure, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate for these. Outside of my degree, I’m also really interested in sustainable energy and the energy market, and I love to draw and go hiking in my free time 🙂
I am a recent Oxford graduate with a Master of Engineering in Materials Science. My Masters’s research project was in DFT modelling of rare-earth superconductors where I looked at how I can better interoperate experimental results in order to design the next generation of superconductors to be used within fusion reactors.
I am extremely grateful for my time in Oxford as I was one of the only people from my school to go to Oxford. Despite the challenges of dyslexia and my journey through state schools, I was able to achieve 4 A*s in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry. Throughout my academic journey, I have learnt many effective studying techniques I am keen to pass on to my students.
In my spare time, I enjoy bouldering, going to the gym, and taking courses in a wide variety of disciplines such as philosophy and Spanish.
Hi I am Vivek, I am a first year undergraduate studying Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. I achieved 4A*s at A Levels and 11 9s at GCSE and I offer tutoring in maths and physics at GCSE and A-Level standard. I also offer tutoring for university admissions especially for the PAT and for engineering/physics interviews.
I believe my first-hand experience and knowledge in these areas would not only improve your skills in the short term but also grow a deeper understanding of the subject as a whole. I offer a variety of teaching and assessment methods which would nurture your understanding of individual topics and how they link together. One of the reasons I took up tutoring is to see my students achieve their goals, no matter what they are. Whether it be getting a high score in a public exam, or even just improve in a topic they were previously struggling on, I love seeing my students achieve their goals
