LLM Tutors : 1-1 LLM Lessons

I’m Amba, an award-winning law tutor, legal consultant and mum to a 13-year-old. I have nearly 20 years’ experience in legal practice and have worked across several areas of law, including family law, private client, employment, civil litigation and conveyancing. I now work as a consultant and run a family law department, which means I bring real legal practice into my teaching rather than relying only on textbook examples.

Alongside practice, I have been tutoring law students online for 7 years and have supported over 1,500 students across A-Level Law, CILEX, LLB, LLM, LPC, GDL, SQE and other legal courses. In 2026, I won the Post-16 Tutor Award, judged by an independent panel, which recognised the quality of my teaching and support.

I also teach internationally, with many students based in the MENA region, and I understand the challenges faced by students studying English law from overseas. I am SEN-friendly and have both professional and lived experience of neurodiversity, including ADHD and parenting an SEN child. My approach is supportive, structured, honest and focused on helping students build confidence, understand the law properly and improve their written work.

I am a qualified legal professional with multiple postgraduate degrees in law and a strong background in advocacy, legal research, and academic writing. Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2019, I hold three LLMs—most recently in Intellectual Property Law (predicted Distinction), as well as in International Banking and Finance (Commendation), and the Bar Professional Training Course (Very Competent).

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have developed a deep understanding of core legal subjects including criminal law, public law, and commercial law, which I now enjoy teaching and breaking down for students at all levels. I have experience mentoring aspiring lawyers, coaching mooting teams, and supporting students in understanding complex legal principles. My approach is structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring they not only grasp key content but also build the confidence to apply it effectively in exams and practical settings.

My experience spans legal practice and public interest work—from tribunal advocacy and legal drafting to in-depth research on pharmaceutical regulation and social justice campaigns. These experiences have refined my ability to explain legal concepts clearly and to support students with both theoretical and practical aspects of legal education.
