Isabelle
About Me
Hi! My name is Isabelle and I recently graduated from Cambridge with an undergraduate Law degree! As Student Union President I was extremely involved with the Admissions Team so I have a pretty good idea of what they’re looking for beyond experiencing the admissions process myself. I also took History, Economics and English Literature at A-Level and did an EPQ in Diplomatic Immunity, which is where my interest in the law really began! Beyond my studies I used to be involved in competitive swimming and am a big fan of the musical arts (Swan Lake is my all time favourite ballet!!). I really enjoyed the subjects I chose at both A Level and University, and want to help students reach their full potential. I believe with the right approach, determination and mindset students can achieve the grades needed to meet their own goals. Further, my time at Cambridge was amazing and if I can give another student that same opportunity to attend their dream university, it would be wonderful.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centred and discussion-based, closely mirroring the Oxbridge supervision approach. I guide students through material using targeted questions, encouraging them to analyse texts, develop independent interpretations, and articulate their reasoning clearly. I focus on building core skills such as critical thinking and reading, comparative analysis, and structured argumentation. While I maintain a supportive atmosphere, I also challenge students to think more deeply and to engage confidently with unfamiliar ideas. I want students to truly understand the concepts, but also the marking criteria of their exam so that they have the best chance to gain the most marks . I adapt my methods to each individual, using feedback and reflection to ensure steady growth. Ultimately, my goal is to help students become curious, confident, and self-directed learners.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement would be not only attending and graduating from Cambridge with a degree in Law, but becoming extremely involved in the community (both my college and the Law Society) and having a true impact that I can look back on.
