Hi, my name is Momoko, and I am a recent graduate in English Literature from the University of Oxford. As an experienced tutor, I love sharing my passion for literature and history with my students. I am fluent in Japanese and English, and have studied classical, medieval, and modern Japanese literature alongside my high school and university studies. I experienced many different schooling systems, from MYP, to GCSE, to IB, and the Japanese state curriculum – this helped me become a flexible student myself, and helped me when tutoring students moving between systems. Having a deep cultural awareness of both cultures has also informed my academic interests: my undergraduate dissertation focussed on the influence of Japanese medieval women’s writing on 20th Century modernism. I am currently finishing my MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, with a focus on medieval Latin, and Middle English. I look forward to speaking with you!
Hello! My name is Zarah, and I am an English literature and language graduate from the University of Oxford.
My journey to Oxford from a state school has taught me more than anything the importance of understanding the process. Having a mentor myself, I greatly benefitted from learning about the Oxford system, and now I have gone through it, I would love to pass on this information.
My hobbies include reading, watching films, cooking and travelling. As a student, it is so important to not lose your hobbies and instead use them as a break from work to avoid burnout. That is why I emphasise to my students that overworking, while it may help retain information, is detrimental to exams and interviews. Being overwhelmed is what we want to avoid, and so my tutoring emphasises working efficiently more than anything. I hope to help students learn how to set and achieve goals through efficient working routines and am excited to help you on your journey to A*s and Oxbridge.
I am a final-year student at the University of Oxford studying English Language and Literature. I have consistently performed very well at university, with Firsts in every paper I sat in my first year, and winning an essay prize in my college in second year. I also achieved 5 8s and 5 9s in my GCSEs, as well as A*A*A at A Level in English, History, and Russian.
Further to this, I have over six years of tutoring experience, as I have tutored boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 in English since I was 14 myself. I consistently help students achieve above their predicted grades at GCSE, and I have worked with students at A Level and undergraduate level to improve their essay writing.
Having successfully gone through the Oxbridge application process, including passing the ELAT, writing a personal statement, and having three interviews at two different colleges, I am primed with expertise and experience to help students achieve the absolute best they can.
Hi! My name is Lizzie and this Summer I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a 1st Class degree in English. I am a conscientious and organised student, devoted to both my studies at to outreach at University. I have been heavily involved in my college’s student union, having been entertainment officer and communication officer, working with other union’s across the University to develop a support network for students. I am a class act student from Birmingham and I’m very invested in helping with access to education for all young people. In my spare time, I enjoy acting (I have performed in several shows in Cambridge, and one at Edinburgh Fringe), and writing creatively. My teaching style begins with assessing a pupil’s current understanding of their curriculum, asking what they would most like to focus on, assessing myself what would most benefit them, developing a timeline for this, and splitting each section into action points that can be achieved in each session.
Hi, I’m LucyAnne! I’m 23 years old and I live in London. I work as an actor and freelance singer, and also part-time as a teaching assistant and a tutor.
I studied History, English, Music and Biology at A Level (3 A*s, 1A) and, while at school, also gained two diplomas in French Horn (LRSM and DipABRSM) alongside Grade 8 Singing (ABRSM) and Verse & Prose (LAMDA), Grade 7 Piano (ABRSM) and Acting (LAMDA) and Grade 5 Music Theory (ABRSM). I then undertook a BA in History and English at Oxford, during which time I was awarded two scholarships for academic achievement. Since graduating in 2021, I have also gained an Acting Diploma from the London School of Dramatic Art.
I absolutely loved my time at uni, and while at school I was lucky enough to have some amazing teachers that showed me how fun learning can be. I would love to be able to inspire others like I was inspired.
My hobbies include cooking, reading and going on walks around my local area looking for cats to stroke!
Hi there!! I’m Thomas, currently reading English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford. I have just recently passed through the stress of A levels and uni admissions, having spent my last five years at St Paul’s School in London.
At school, I was awarded a John Colet Scholarship (awarded to the top 14 pupils at 13+ entry), a Senior Academic Scholarship, as well as the Milton prize for English, and the Blair prize for ‘thinking creatively and laterally across disciplines’ (very vague, I know). For my A levels, I achieved 4 A* and an A in English Literature, History, Latin, an EPQ (where I managed to gain full marks), and Maths respectively, as well as 11 9s at GCSE level.
Aside from numbers and grades, I play the cello and piano. I am a cricket and rugby fanatic, but love both playing and watching as many sports as possible. Currently, I’m trying to improve some highly questionable tennis abilities…
I would consider myself to be relaxed and friendly, but most importantly I aim to be as diligent as possible in everything that I do. I great take pride in holding myself to the highest possible standards, and tutoring is no exception.
