My name is Ruairi (think roar-ree). I have recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with, among other things, a first-class with distinction in my dissertation on public policy. Throughout my time at Cambridge, I have taken papers spanning development, economics, law, and policy. I am combining the knowledge and skills I gained during my undergraduate degree to become a corporate lawyer at a global, Top 20 AM Law firm.

In the meantime, I would like to tutor you! I have thoroughly enjoyed tutoring in the past and believe I can help you excel in a wide range of subjects. I would also be more than happy to help with applications and interviews, be that to universities or to law firms. More generally, I can give you advice on navigating college/sixth form, university, and the corporate world, based on my past successes (and failures!).

Outside of academia and work, I like to watch Arsenal and international rugby. I am also hoping to get back into gym and kickboxing in the new academic year, as well as jewellery-making.

I am a first-year Land Economy student at the University of Cambridge, combining interests in economics, policy, and real-world data. Before Cambridge, I completed the IB Diploma with a score of 44/45, focusing on Economics, Mathematics, and research. I have worked on analytical projects with organisations such as Rosbank and VK, where I carried out market evaluations, behavioural-economics studies, and strategic proposals. My independent econometric research on climate adaptation was later published and presented internationally.
Teaching has been a consistent part of my academic journey. While leading the Economics Department at Priceless Education, I organised lessons, developed learning materials, and worked with students from different backgrounds. I enjoyed breaking down complex models into simple, visual explanations, guiding students through past papers, and helping them build confidence step by step. I have 30+ years of experience in tutoring in parallel to my career as an engineer and a business consultant. As I am not traveling anymore, I can use these assets to help students in both tutoring and making assignments from a distance besides my consulting work. I am based in Brussels.
Most of my students come to me from word of mouth since my hit rate is quite high: they get quite quickly autonomous, needing much fewer sessions than with a purely academic tutor. My explanations are always based on daily life applications, as I have been using most topics in my professional career (I started as a basic nuclear engineer).
For Business Studies, I also use my broad experience as a business consultant: I still coach and train Engineers into Business & Sales engineers with a few Scandinavian technical companies since 1995.
