Ancient History Tutors : 1-1 Ancient History Preparation

Hi, I’m Louis, a 2nd year PPEist at Magdalen College, Oxford. I tend to prefer political philsophy, ethics, and the history of thought, however these are not exclusive, and I have studied broadly around philosophy, politics, and economics thus far at university, as well as wider interest before.

I also row in the college’s first boat, training 6-7 times per week, hold a position on the college’s JCR (like a student council?), am a member of various academic societies (Philosophy soc, politics soc, society of Bibliophiles, and so on.), and am Vice-President of the college Wine Society, which seeks to make more accessible this otherwise somewhat exclusive hobby.

Outside of Oxford, I live in the Peak District, where I enjoy hiking, playing the piano, clarinet, and saxophone, and reading. I also gain much from charity work, having spent the summer volunteering with refugees as they arrive into the EU. This, alongside my enjoyment of travel, has opened my eyes to the need of different types of, and a need for, clarity of communication, a consideration of different styles of understanding, as well as the political issues more directly related to my study.

I am a dedicated and experienced tutor with a passion for empowering children and adults with special educational needs (SEN) and neurodivergent conditions to discover the joy in learning.

I’m skilled at creating bespoke, inclusive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and individual needs, and strive to create a positive, uplifting atmosphere during my sessions that promote a positive attitude towards learning.

I have a person-centred approach, and focus on the interests and needs of my students, finding what works best for them and using these avenues to facilitate learning.

Beyond tutoring, I am a professional musician, with vast experience in the create industry. I have a passion for all things history, nature, sci-fi and fantasy, and find these interests often overlap with my students and help us create strong bonds that enrich the learning experience.

I am an Oxford postgraduate in History holding BA and MSt degrees from that university and over 10 years of tutoring experience. With a long proven track record of success, I have taught students in English, History, Geography, Classics, Politics, and all other Humanities subjects, as well as essay-writing, exam-taking, critical thinking, interview skills, and literacy at school, college, and university levels.

I tailor every lesson to each student’s unique needs, working to improve not only subject knowledge, but also study skills, enthusiasm, and confidence. Hi, I’m Zain and I’m passionate about helping students succeed through clear, engaging, and personalised learning.

I hold a First-Class BSc degree in Business Information Systems from De Montfort University, and I’ve been working in both technical and leadership roles since graduating in 2018. My experience includes managing site operations and vehicle sales as a Site Manager and leading a sales team as a Senior Sales Executive. These roles have strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills—qualities I bring into my tutoring.

Academically, I studied Biology, Psychology, and Urdu at A-Level, and I have a deep personal interest in subjects like biology and astronomy. I’ve also memorised the Qur’an in Arabic, which reflects my focus, discipline, and commitment to learning—values I aim to inspire in my students.
