Hi there! My name is Grace. In 2023, I finished a French Literature MSt at Keble College, Oxford, for which I received a Distinction. I also completed a History and French BA for my undergraduate at Somerville College, Oxford and got a First Class. I’ve been tutoring for seven years now so I have lots of experience, and I really enjoy being able to help students wherever I can. Throughout my time in education, I always put my academic studies first, and I know how important it is to do your best in exams; I find it extremely rewarding when I can help students to achieve this. Having got all A*s in GCSE and A-Level, and successfully passed through Oxford’s rigorous admissions process, I know first-hand what is required to do well at all of these stages. My name is Silas and I am a newly qualified Resident Doctor following the completion of my Medical Degree at the University of Sheffield. I graduated with honours and received the Mark Gregory Baker as the top student in my year.

Prior to studying Medicine, I gained a First Class Degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Birmingham; my degree allowed me to apply to Undergraduate Medicine as a graduate. I can offer a unique perspective for students looking for alternate routes into Medicine and on the importance placed on varied interests by Medical Schools across the country.

As a Sheffield Medical student, I am the President of the Sheffield Emergency Medicine Society and am a member of medical societies such as Sheffield Friends of MSF and Wilderness Medicine. I am also a Community First Responder which involves responding to emergencies in the area with lifesaving equipment before the ambulance arrives. My specific areas of interest within Medicine are: Emergency Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, Pre-Hospital Medicine, Humanitarian Medicine, and Disaster Medicine.

In terms of the city of Sheffield, I was born and raised here therefore I feel that I can answer any questions that students have about the city, the lifestyle, and the surrounding area which I know is a point of emphasis from Sheffield during the interview process.

Hi, I’m Raul!
I’m currently in fourth year at BSMS. So far I have helped students with UCAT, BMAT, IMAT, HUMAT and with their interview techniques. I have taught students from all across the world – including places like Japan, Qatar, Poland and many students from the UK.

At A-level, I did chemistry, biology and English literature which I found worked well for the essay components of the course. Getting the right balance between revising for A-levels and applying to medicine can be difficult but it is important to remember that both need focus.

I’m have just finished a BSc in Global health at the University of Manchester as a year out of medicine. As part of the course, I spent the whole of January in Mumbai completing my own research project. The course was really relaxed and it was a needed break from the intensity of medicine. I’d recommend choosing a uni course with the option to intercalate in case it’s something you might want to go for down the line.

I have loved medicine and I know the journey there is long and it can be difficult to see the end, but it is worth it. The degree is engaging and the work is manageable. It’s been some of the best years of my life and it’s a joy to watch students begin the same journey.
