About Me

Hi! My name is Navameekrishna Nair and I am a first year law student at the University of Cambridge, Lucy Cavendish College. For A-levels, I took English Literature, Psychology and Chemistry, achieving A*A*B. As LNAT examinations approached last year, I took it upon myself to attend training sessions with in2_law, where I picked up many comprehension and essay writing techniques, piquing my interest at the possibilities of tutoring and how much it would help prospective law students. This experience, as well as my experience working as an academic (GCSE and A-level) tutor for the past three years has definitely inspired me to aid students through their LNAT preparation, which although may seem daunting at first, can be a really fun experience that allows you to read texts in a much more perceptive manner and express your arguments articulately and thoughtfully. For English Literature A -level, I studied Hamlet, Purple Hibiscus, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Grapes of Wrath, The Great Gatsby, The World’s Wife, A Doll’s House and Christina Rossetti’s poetry collection, all which I can offer guidance with. I also studied the AQA board psychology syllabus for A-levels. I achieved 6 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s for GCSES, and hence will also be offering tutoring for GCSE maths, english language, english literature, all 3 sciences and history.

My teaching style

I believe great teaching involves ensuring that your students have a strong foundation to feel confident enough to approach the LNAT questions efficiently. Thus, I will be going through exemplar articles and essay questions alongside the students, discussing the reasoning behind the multiple choice answers and creating essay plans for the essay section together. before assessing their performances on their own. Feedback is also a significant aspect of teaching, so students can expect to receive feedback on all their practice and preparation. Due to my genuine enjoyment of seeing students develop confidence and succeed in the LNAT, I will also be available outside of teaching hours via email to answer any questions or concerns! 🙂

My past experience

As mentioned, I have tutored for The Study Room Tuition Centre in all GCSE and my chosen A-level subjects for the last 3 years. I also offer virtual tutoring via zoom for students living further away, mainly in GCSE and A-level English Literature, thus also further developing my comprehension and essay writing and keeping me in touch with the skills required for the LNAT exam.

My Proudest Achievements

Securing a place at the University of Cambridge has undoubtedly been my proudest achievement, as it was an academically challenging yet enriching experience that now gives me the opportunity to study the subject that I am most passionate about – law – at one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world.
