About Me
Hello everyone, my name is Alex.
I have been teaching since English as a second language since 2018. Before this time I used to work in the television and movie industry.
I have found that working in education has connected me with really interesting individuals. I have also seen my own skills grow over the years in the classroom as I face and overcome the many challenges that are thrown at the modern teacher.
I have noticed that every class is different. I take great pride out of thinking and experimenting with different material. When I meet a certain student, I like to think ‘what is best thing I should be teaching them in our next class’
I have taught in many different places such as Italy, Spain, Dubai and many boarding schools in the UK
I have taught learners from many different age groups, from 4 years old, to teenagers, and adults.
My teaching style
How do I get the majority of my students? Well they hear about me from other students who have enjoyed my classes. They really like the way I present information and make the class interesting and informative.
From my vast experience, I have developed my own unique way of teaching my students. To describe my method simply, I only teach what I find interesting. If I am interested in the material I’m using, then the student will also be interested.
I know many students don’t enjoy grammar. This is because previously it has been taught to them in a dull and bland way. I wouldn’t want to be taught in this way either so I make my classes more dynamic. Grammar is useless without examples from the real world. I like to prompt responses from my students using pictures and videos. ‘Where is this man? What is this location?’ I find grammar is like feeding vegetables to children; you need to hide the greens in with the potato.
My past experience
I have been teaching since 2018. I have classes of 20 students, but I prefer 1 to 1.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest moments have been when I’ve struggled to engage with students who don’t want to interact with me, but I’ve turned it around, I haven’t given up and kept trying, eventually I find the right tone or the right subject to perk the interest in the student.
