9About Me
Hello, I’m Louis, I am a third year Computer Science student at Lancaster University specialising into Cyber Security. I have done tutoring for a year now and have managed to get my students to achieve an A in their computer science exams at A-Levels. I try my best to cater towards whatever learning technique a person may have, and I am willing to adapt my teaching methods in response to feedback given to ensure you get the grades you need to get into whatever future step you’d like.
So you know a little more about me and my interests, I am the treasurer for the Lancaster University Muay Thai society and have practiced this sport since beginning my time at the university; I also quite enjoy video games, building computers and looking into ethical hacking and other computer science related topics to expand my knowledge and better teach others.
My teaching style
I tend to teach in a way which caters towards the students learning style; throughout my time in lower levels of school I’ve adapted to various teaching methods and it’s all about taking advantage of them the right way.
When I explain things to students who might not understand something because of complicated wording, I do it in the least number of words possible because generally it works. “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”
My past experience
In primary school, secondary school and sixth form I have done teaching assistant work during extracurricular sessions. These were in Maths, Physics and Computer science.
I have tutored on this platform for a year now with 2 students, however I look to teach more this year.
My Proudest Achievements
During my time in Sixth form, I produced a project on an adaptive difficulty system in a videogame; Though I may not have been the highest score in my class I would much rather do something I enjoy than cater to a mark scheme, which is exactly what I did for my A-levels (but don’t go overboard against the mark scheme).
My current Third year project is producing a discrete reconnaissance device which can locate internet connected devices in a building and form a heat-map to help locate possible vulnerabilities in the physical side of a network/organisation
